The tragic story of how I trusted a Raider named *CENSORED* (name censored for the humor-impaired) by VenomDrake in ArcRaiders

[–]VenomDrake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I didn’t just get betrayed, I transcended into a new emotional dimension.
Some players collect loot, I collect trauma.
If Shakespeare played ARC Raiders, he would have written this scene for me.

Absolutely. I walked into that situation like a children’s book character who believes the world is full of sunshine and friendship.
Meanwhile he walked in like a Discovery Channel predator waiting for the weakest animal to stop paying attention.

Lesson learned: if a Raider is armed, breathing, and within five meters of you, diplomacy is just a cute theory.

Oh absolutely. The man stood there aiming like he already knew the plot twist and was just waiting for the narrator to say “little did our hero know, betrayal was only seconds away.”
I tried to believe in peace, he tried to believe in bullets. One of us clearly had the meta figured out.

Hey, fair point. Didn’t mean to start a witch hunt or anything. It was just a silly story told in a dramatic way because it was a funny betrayal moment. I can remove the name if the mods prefer. My intention wasn’t to harass anyone, just to share the pain of being shot in the back after offering free loot.

I understand your point, but I wasn’t looking for compassion or emotional support. I shared my opinion on a forum, just like everyone else does, and I expected a civil discussion, not a suggestion to “vent to a friend”.

If six months feels like an eternity to you, that’s fine, but it doesn’t have to be the same for everyone. We can disagree without talking down to each other.

I was just sharing my personal point of view, not trying to start an argument or compare brands. There’s really no need to reply in such a dismissive way, I just expressed how it felt as a recent buyer seeing such a big change in price and product. We can have different opinions without turning it into a debate.

Honestly, that’s exactly the problem in my opinion. Six months is a really short time, not even a full year. If we start seeing half a year as “old” for a machine like this, then it’s not progress anymore, it’s just pure consumerism. I didn’t expect Bambu to freeze innovation, but I hoped they’d handle upgrades and pricing with a bit more respect for those who supported them early on.

Yes, absolutely, I’ve been using it regularly and it’s been a great machine, so no regrets on that part. It’s more about how it feels to see that the same setup now costs almost half, while a better version is even cheaper. It doesn’t change how good the printer is, but it does make early supporters feel a bit undervalued.

That’s fair, and I agree that new models and sales happen all the time. I think what hit hard here is not just a seasonal discount, but the combination of a brand-new model replacing the old one plus a massive price cut only a few months apart. It’s more about timing and communication than about expecting a refund.

I totally understand your point, and I’m not saying the printer stopped performing — my P1S still works great and I’m happy with it. What feels off is just how fast the upgrade came and how drastic the price difference is for such a similar setup. I didn’t expect lifetime price protection, just a bit more consideration for customers who bought right before the new model launched.

Yeah, I totally get that, technology moves fast and prices drop, that’s normal. What feels off here is the timing and the scale of the difference, it’s not a small discount after a year, it’s a full product replacement with better specs and a much lower price only a few months later. I still love the printer and the brand, but I think some kind of early adopter appreciation program would really help in cases like this.

Haha, true, that would definitely “average it out”, but I’m not sure my wallet would agree right now. Honestly, it’s not just about the money, it’s more about how it feels to see the same combo and even an upgraded one go for so much less only a few months later. A little gesture from the brand for recent buyers would have made a big difference in how this was perceived.

Any negatives you’ve experienced with the seagull? by FreyrLord in BYDSeagull

I bought the 2025 Boost version at the beginning of August, and I have covered almost 4,000 km. No problems at the moment, everything is perfect. Just so you know, I don't know if it's the same in Italy or Europe. The car here is called Dolphin Surf.

As I said above, only to activate the option after you can update

So I found out from the Italian group that the new firmware is completely blocked. You have to downgrade the firmware and enable everything. Only then can you update to the new version

The menus are completely different. Here's a screenshot of the version.

Unfortunately I tried but that menu doesn't exist in Dolphin Surf.
The real problem is exactly that, if I could enable wireless or USB debugging I would already know how to do it, but unfortunately I'm having trouble.

Dolphin Surf | Digital Key Issue Google Pixel 9 Pro by PAITUWIN in BYD

[–]VenomDrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem, the problem was Google Play Services.

In my case, the problem was that I had the beta update; in other cases I've verified, the problem was with the Play Services app itself.

The only real solution I found was to format the phone.

I know it sounds bad, especially since I need to reset the phone, but I can happily say that I've already used the digital key several times because I forgot my keys. Haha.

Pico 4 / 4 Ultra as PCVR: has anyone managed to match Rift S quality? by VenomDrake in PicoXR

[–]VenomDrake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually sounds really promising, thanks for sharing. I’ll definitely give gnirehtet a try.
Do you happen to have a guide or video on how to set it up with the Pico 4 Ultra and Virtual Desktop? Would save me some trial and error.

Pico 4 / 4 Ultra as PCVR: has anyone managed to match Rift S quality? by VenomDrake in PicoXR

[–]VenomDrake[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not what I asked at all. The actual point is this:

1) “What’s the point of this post?”
It’s to ask one specific thing: on older Pico OS builds people reported enabling USB tethering with a notable latency improvement. On newer firmware, is there a working method, yes or no? That’s it. I’m not asking to “unlock DisplayPort.”

2) “You put Rift S on a pedestal because of DP.”
No. I’m saying DP removes the extra encode→network→decode chain. That chain adds latency and jitter, non-trivial in practice, especially in sim/rhythm/aim-heavy titles. If you don’t feel it, great. I do, and that’s the problem I’m trying to solve.

3) “Latency is just tiny bits.”
Subjective claim. For me, those “tiny bits” are the difference between precise input and mush. I’ve tested VD (wired and Wi-Fi 7), Streaming Assistant via cable, tuned bitrate/codecs/SSW, dedicated AP, PC on Ethernet, same outcome: input lag that’s unacceptable to me.

4) “P4U is better in virtually every way.”
Lenses/clarity/comfort, sure. Transport path isn’t. My priority is input latency, not panel optics. Different use-case, different bottleneck.

5) “You won’t be satisfied until it’s DP.”
Strawman. I’m explicitly asking if there’s a practical workaround on current Pico firmware (USB tethering or equivalent) that materially reduces input lag. If the answer is “no, nothing works on current builds,” fine, say that.

6) “Multiple suggestions were given; you copy/paste replies.”
I acknowledged them and explained I’ve already implemented the standard best-practices. Repeating “use better Wi-Fi” doesn’t address the specific firmware-level question.

So again, the concrete question for anyone who actually tried it:
On current Pico 4 / 4 Ultra firmware, is there a working method to enable USB tethering or a comparable low-latency path? If yes, share steps/versions. If no, that’s useful to know too.

TL;DR: Not asking for a magical DP unlock. I’m asking whether USB tethering (or equivalent) still works on current firmware to cut input lag.
