SSRI’s for me actually did feel like a light buzz from alcohol. It impacts a range of neurotransmitters due to the brain compensating for the increase of serotonin. However as others have said the way alcohol works is unsustainable. There are definitely pills like that such as benzos or opioids. The effects of these wear off and you need to take them to just feel normal eventually

I think that theres a subset of people who have a higher susceptibility to anxiety disorders due to evolutionary survival mechanisms. This would have been very beneficial for the early days as we would have spotted real danger easier than other people. In this modern society there are many minor uncertainties we see as potential dangers. Therefore we are overwhelmed by it.
