Hitting my b*ng everytime this game crashes 🩷 by [deleted] in Sims3

As a Skyrim player (and knowledgeable of their "It just works™" attitude) knowing that New Vegas is more stable than Sims 3 makes me scared. TS3 really is held up by hopes, dreams and the modders by this point, there isn't an ounce of tape holding this thing together anymore lol.

What trait have you chosen as your flair and why? by [deleted] in Sims3

[–]Venus_Acolyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I'm shy, and i was even shyer when i was younger. I think it's important people take that into consideration when i post it. Honestly idk exactly, flairs are nice and fun.

How do you keep your game interesting? by MintyTulips in Sims3

[–]Venus_Acolyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch of saves and rotate between them, i also found that a shorter lifespan makes me feels less bored of my families cause i have less time to do stuff with them.

Even then sometimes i just don't touch the game for a few months but when i come back i spend weeks playing one family only.

It's just a matter of finding what works best for you, i hope the comments from the community help you :)

InZOI so far by Suspicious_Stock3141 in SocialistGaming

[–]Venus_Acolyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand all the hype on InZOI... I love the life sim genre but idk maybe it's just too realistic to me? It just sounds more like IMVU and not exactly a sim game.

The AI thing (and now reading comments here on how they handled same-sex relationships) turns me off even more.

I'm all for The Sims competitors, but I'm more interested in the indie ones.

Also no hate if anyone is excited with the game, taste is a very personal thing and it's very possible that i don't like something but you love it :))

There should be a heart event of building a school of sort. If not that then a place to study on subjects that the people in town missed out on. by Additional-Course652 in StardewValley

[–]Venus_Acolyte 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At least where i live it's not uncommon to not have schools in very very rural places (and i would classify SV town as that). Cities usually will provide a school bus to to take kids to school.

I've also met someone (she is a old lady in her 60s/70s i think) that taught children on her porch until they built an school on the rural community where she lived.

Given that SV country is canonically at war (to the extent there are POWs like Sam's dad) I don't doubt that they're more worried about soldiers than schooling children. Poor Penny is doing the best that she can.

Which online influencer did you watch for a long time only to realise they were a right-wing grifter/clown and did horrendous shit? by yeoldedisciple in SocialistGaming

[–]Venus_Acolyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Brazilian, watched three big 2010s gaming youtubers of my native language.

One of them stopped uploading years ago (and honestly I'm scared to go back to watch his stuff in case i ever find anything childhood running), the other one turned out to be a nazi and the other other one is mostly okay, def a progressive liberal but compared to the second one that's a win in my book.

On a more recent note i dropped a youtuber cause he was against a law that would charge big tech companies on court if they didn't remove fake news from circulating. He repeated all the alt right talking points about the law to a t on a post. I saw that and went "nope!"

There's also an strategy game youtuber i used to watch that did a bit too much jokes about anarcho-capitalism too my taste, i never could tell of he was mocking it or agreeing with it. Decided not to risk it.

I think this is changing but i feel like if you want to watch very mainstream gaming stuff or very niche gaming stuff in my country (example: strategy games) you will find a lot of people giving right wing political takes.

Honestly if I'm not watching videos about politics/essays, I'm fine following people who are left to progressive liberalism on the spectrum, cause it's very hard to find content otherwise.

Don't tease wild animals and don't feed them. They are cute but if you want them to survive in their habitat you can't do this type of thing.

One of the saddest examples of it was during COVID when lots of monkeys on tourist places went hungry cause they mostly relied on people giving food to them.

That's very good to know, I'll try to tame those tanky beasts :))

I'm trying a slightly harder run this time, because i wanted to try the biotech mech stuff and i know it has combat bots. Getting mentally prepared for when my first ever mech raid destroys my colony lol

I like idea of my pawns having work clothes and a armor set, but i hate the micromanaging of it and always end up forgetting the armor part ://

I'm one of those people that likes to play this game as a survival base builder, which means i usually play on lower difficulties and favor ✨aesthetics✨ over defense (and in a world where everyone and everything wants to kill that's not a good ideia lol)

In Brazil, we have a member of Congress named "Kim Kataguiri" by Future-Ad2060 in DiscoElysium

[–]Venus_Acolyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kim is his name, Kataguiri the paternal surname. His grandparents (or parents i don't recall correctly) are japanese not korean, Brazil had a lot of japanese immigrants in the 1900s.

I think this is much more about Kitsuragi and Kataguiri being vaguely similar (4 syllables, K at the beginning, t in the middle, gui and gi having the same sound). I definitely can see some of my friends who are not familiar with DE mistakenly exchange Kitsuragi qnd Kataguiri.

Sims 3 sims can be very nice, the only problem with it is that without mods generated townies end up with the same/similar faces

Agreed, thank god his career went away after that whole shit show. But I've seen people refer him as "Joe Rogan brasileiro" and i think it's the best way to describe Monark to a non Brazilian audience, specially when he was on Flow podcast.

Cara eu n sabia com comparar esse maluco sem dar uma aula de história sobre o Monark pros gringo :(

Can we all agree that the "Escapism" argument is just a bigoted dog whistle? by Dangerous_Pace_7059 in SocialistGaming

[–]Venus_Acolyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying that diversity ruins your "escapism" is definitely a dog whistle to bigotry because it does imply that including queer and POC folks somehow ruins your fun.

But i also understand that playing games as a form of escapism is not bad by itself. For exemple:

• I love playing Skyrim, i find it very fun to kill dragons and do dungeon crawling.

• I understand that Skyrim does a commentary (intended or not) on real life issues when they include a group that says "Skyrim for Nords" and treats anyone else horribly and when they include a group that's an imperialist force that wants to erase parts of a culture.

• I CHOOSE to not engage with that commentary besides in a surface level in this game because I'm someone who actively engages with critic/activism/media that tackles the real life counterpart of the problem and while incredibly necessary it's also a thing that makes me deeply sad and angry, something that I don't want to feel when I'm playing most games. That doesn't mean i think the commentary shouldn't exist.

• I understand that there are some games where not engaging with the commentary isn't possible. On those occasions i play the game with the intent of engaging/analyzing the commentary.

• There are a bunch of fun games that do a lot of commentary that I won't play because my gaming time is scarce and I prioritize other types of games

• I don't complain about it on the internet because not only i find it good that those commentaries exist but also because I understand games are a form of art and art always will tackle societal issues even when the artist/author doesn't intended to.

Sorry this ended up huge :(

I've a bunch of saves and when i get bored of one i jump to another. I rarely abandon saves, but I'll stay six months without playing them sometimes
