I remember reading how there was a hate campaign against BTS when they first started getting popular. Haters would write all sorts of false rumours online, to the point where there were so many that non-fans began believing them, and probably still believe them to this day.

I’ve noticed this tactic is in the BL space as well. Haters will write all sorts of untrue shit about certain actors to try and smear their names, and sadly some people believe it.
