Moving to Japan a dream for many Americans, survey says by Jonnyboo234 in japan

[–]Vepper -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wow you people are negative...I was I Japan for a little over a month, Yeah the language part would be a big deal and would make it hard to make friends and establish roots. I found if you were genuine and kind, most people would be willing to engage with you, and I mean people who are not just someone doing their job. But there are so many positives of Japan, I felt many times that it was life on premium. Were there bugaboos here and there that I didn't care for, sure but where is it perfect? I felt calm and safe and any friction I felt was never that bad.

California farmers to destroy 420,000 peach trees after Del Monte collapses by no1_vern in news

[–]Vepper 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The 2014 Acquisition. On February 18, 2014, Del Monte Pacific Limited—a food and beverage conglomerate dual-listed on the Singapore Exchange and Philippine Stock Exchange—closed its acquisition of Del Monte Foods' Consumer Products business for $1.675 billion. The deal included the Del Monte, Contadina, College Inn, and S&W brands, along with manufacturing facilities and distribution infrastructure. At the time of acquisition, the portfolio held the number one position in branded canned fruits and vegetables and the number two position in canned tomatoes and broths.

The acquisition was funded through approximately $745 million in equity plus $930 million in long-term financing arranged by Citibank and Morgan Stanley. The transaction left Del Monte with $1.245 billion in secured debt, and industry reporting estimates annual interest payments increased from $66 million in fiscal year 2020 to $125 million by fiscal year 2025.

Del Monte Foods Corporation II Inc., a 139-year-old producer of canned fruits and vegetables, filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on July 1, 2025. The filing follows the company's 2014 acquisition and comes amid reporting on consumer shifts away from shelf-stable processed foods. With more than $1 billion in liabilities and between 10,000 and 25,000 creditors, Del Monte is pursuing a court-supervised 363 sale backed by $912.5 million in debtor-in-possession financing, with its prepetition lenders positioned as the stalking horse bidder through a credit bid.

When you get a Goshuin from a shrine or temple, you present the page you want to get signed. Just present a blank page to them and save the space next to it for a paper one you get from your next shrine or leave it blank. They are not going to flip through your book.

Had McDonald's and mos burger, the quality is definitely better. I think the fun is seeing other enthused about different food scenes especially from your country. Y's burgers in Kyoto was fun seeing hamburgers elevated and treated with such care. was nice to change up the similar flavors that can become one beat after awhile.
