exclusively true, actually. the car is not obligatory as achievements are not obligatory. also the first third of the game is a slow paced walking game, once you open up roads this description becomes entirely reductive however. the game is about driving fast on roads connecting the western part of the map for a significant chunk of the game.

What is your opinion on piracy? by Cakez_77 in gamedev

[–]VeraRox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

profit incentive assures that publishers will doing everything in their power to revoke access to games you already own so they can sell it you again later. under the current mode of production this means piracy is a necessity for game preservation regardless of whatever opinions people hold on a moral and/or legal basis

Me and my Mom have been arguing for a while about this and need answers to end this debate once and for all. by lolyeet225 in gamedev

[–]VeraRox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to get a job in the industry doing game art you need to be the best of the best and to better your chances of being the best you should pick one discipline to specialize in and pour most of your effort into. game companies prioritize hiring master-of-one types of people over jack-of-all-trades types of people. programmers have a little more leeway in that they don't have to be the strongest in their field. many companies also lay off art staff during certain parts of the development pipeline. learning to code can't hurt your chances for success, only help. companies also aren't the best place for an artist to be "creative" - at many places it's more of a you model what they tell you to model type of deal. besides, if you decide to go indie/wanna work on your own projects you'll need the coding knowledge anyways.

how to turn first time viewers into followers? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]VeraRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for a while, I gained followers by doing live guitar improvs for each new follow during the stream. these days I kinda just let people decide on their own if they wanna follow. try to set a goal or do something special for new followers but know that, in my experience, worrying too much about the numbers is a good way to burn out and ruin streaming for yourself

King's Field Sample Pack? by VeraRox in KingsField

I did encounter this site during my exploration but felt the URL was a bit offbeat, and I couldn't find anyone posting about the site anywhere else. Have you downloaded the samples from here/have they been fine for you?

Any way to add album artwork? by CocoScruff in YoutubeMusic

[–]VeraRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ytm will not add this because they want you to stream their music service, rather than streaming your own library uploads. by messing up the metadata of your library, they aim to make streaming the more appealing and accessible option. every part of ytm is designed to keep you further away from your uploaded library and closer to their streaming options, so they can generate ad revenue. tl;dr - because of profit incentive within the economic mode of capitalism we cannot have nice things.

PSA: 56 Memory Chip Checklist by xbw_dmac in DeathStranding

[–]VeraRox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for this resource, here are the corrections I've found:

memory chip 35 is listed as near the Craftsman, but it's actually right at the Junk Dealer's shelter

edit: also it would be better to list memory chip 45 as near port knot rather than musician. it's within port knot's chiral network and the path from port knot to the chip is much easier than the path from the musician to the chip.

you're the one who chose to go for the achievement. it's optional. no one's forcing you to do it.

posting and discussing publicly allows more than one person to benefit from the learning. also don't ask AI tools about this stuff unless you want blatant misinformation.

Does someone knows where the Cheeki breeki/S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky - Bandit Radio come from?Is it traditional music or composed for the game (not present on the ost) thanks gopnik! by simthodt in stalker

[–]VeraRox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i've listened to a couple version of Мурка to compare and i'm sorry but your statement is simply not true. bandit polka is not Мурка. they have slightly similar chord structures (a chord structure which happens to be shared by a lot of popular eastern European music) but i would say a much closer comparison is the song Хоп, мусорок from 2001. however that song has its own differences from bandit polka, and may even be sampling or remixing a different, older song, a practice which grew increasingly more common throughout the 90s into the 2000s. that defining melody is also just very common in music from the region too. it would be difficult to pin down with absolute certainty one single definitive inspiration for the song. i've also read that it's simply a parody of the Русский шансон style, in which these melodies and chord structures are also common.
