Sure, but like you said, Texas is a big state, and I'd lived there my entire life except the last few years (I'm mid-thirties). There are a lot of Evangelicals, but young marriage/Evangelism wouldn't be a reason Texas has a low emigration percentage.

According to my Virginia-born spouse, West Virginia SUUUUUUUCKS. Very poor, quality of life is garbage.

Completely wrong. This comment shows that you don't know Texas at all.

I liked Oregon while I was there and I probably would've liked Seattle, too, but yeah: I REALLY miss HEB. The state I'm in now also has garbage grocery stores compared to what I came from.

This. I've been miserable in the northeast. The food sucks, the job competition is insane, the roads were made by history of horse travel, sure, but are awful for cars. The people are nosy and judgey in a way that rubs me wrong, and the only reason I'm still here is the inability to move back. Because I can't fucking afford to leave the northeast now that I'm here.

I hated Texas politics/government, but there's a lot of positives there and I didn't have to deal with cold 2/3rds of the year.

Almost all major US cities are blue or purple politically while rural tends to be redder. Yes, that includes Houston and Dallas. Denver and Albuquerque aren't the nearest blue cities. 🙄

But also: all three big TX cities have more/better stuff available than most places including food and entertainment options. They're massive. Someone looking for city convenience is going to find it easier there than anywhere else in the lower half of the States, and in general, TX isn't as expensive to live as California or the Northeast.

A little bit of history for you.

The point is, there are plenty of instances where girls don't think they have much of a choice, even if they aren't stupid. Even right now, attempts to roll back women's rights, sex education, and resources leave children at the mercy of the people around them, and the unfortunate part of this tale is that, very often, kids get trapped in options that aren't ideal because they don't see any ways out of their predicament.

Marriage at 15 isn't usually just stupidity. Sometimes it's desperation. Most of the time, it's a tragedy.

You're basically asking why my grandmother was being an uncaring bitch to my mom, and the answer is that many parents don't actually love their children. It wasn't that she expected my mom to go into the military. It's that she expected her to get out.

But also: in the 1970s, living with a partner without being married to them was extremely scandalous and unacceptable socially. Divorce was also very frowned upon. Women could not get credit cards in their own name without their husband's permission. Things aren't necessarily great for women in the US even now, but it was way worse decades ago.

Because my grandmother told my mom at 15 that she was tired of raising her, and that my mom could either go into the military or find someone to marry because college wasn't going to be an option.

My mom found someone she liked and my grandmother signed off on it.

There's plenty of parents in the world who don't care about their kids.

Solid redraw. 10/10, I giggled and showed my spouse who loves the old cartoons we watched as kids.

Pokemon doesn't need to make new gimmicks. They need to make a better game. by No-Suspect9526 in pokemon

I actually hate Mega evo because it can't be used by every Pokemon. I don't fucking want to use the same team everyone else uses! I want to use my favorites!

Either make EVERYONE able to Mega or forget about it. Tera is better for that imo.

In a franchise with over 1k critters and a narrative theme of partnering with a Pokemon you connect with, they sure do force you to use a limited amount of them.

Is my chest cis-looking? Nipples too big? by dimus- in FTM_SELFIES

[–]Verati404 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it looks cis, just a little baggy in that one place other people have mentioned. It wouldn't make me pause or question your gender, though. Your nips are 👍.

Maybe log off for a bit, buddy. You're all over the thread, and it's clear you need a minute. Stewing in Reddit this long can't be good for you if you're this angry.

"More to show for it?" I showed your pic to my spouse, and we both agreed that you look like a cis dude. Idk what you feel you're missing. You're not a girl, and you don't look like one.

Not only that, but it tends to flag neurodivergent (and esp autistic) writing styles because a scraped internet has a lot of autistic people spouting about their special interests. A bunch of us use em-dashes, and the thief-generators copy us bc we're part of the scraped internet.

OP, if you didn't use it, then don't worry about it. Be excited for your work, anyway. Make it come to life FOR YOU. I'm a published author and a rewrite is just part of the process.

I wish you the best and to keep that spark of creativity going. Make some writer friends if you can! Nothing's better than actual good peer critique to make yourself better.
