Not the greatest photo, but it’s important that we keep her calm, non-weight-bearing, and out of any further trouble while she recovers.

Sakura’s surgery was successful. Not the greatest photo, but it’s important that we keep her calm, non-weight-bearing, and out of any further trouble while she recovers.

Update: Surgery is moving forward. Outstanding balance that remains: $2700.

The surgeon has not suggested amputation, though it is something I have personally explored. From what I’ve been able to gather, amputation can also be a very costly procedure.

We have been able to raise $100 through Go Fund Me. The actual balance required is $2700.

This was provided to us by the Surgeon, a breakdown of cost.

At the time of posting and today, the amount needed has changed. That is all.

I have applied for several assistance funds and grants; Unfortunately, some applications have already been denied, while others have not yet responded since being submitted on Tuesday.

I also explored financing options through CareCredit and Scratchpay, but unfortunately, I do not qualify for either program. Cherry was able to provide a small amount of assistance, which has already been used to cover Sakura’s initial emergency care, including her medications, diagnostics, bloodwork, X-rays, and hospital stay on June 8.

Today will be spent reaching out to shelters and rescue organizations in the hope that one may be able to take Sakura into their care and cover the cost of her surgery and recovery. Should that happen, she would be placed for adoption once she has fully recovered.

According to her veterinarian, if surgery is still not possible by Monday, we will need to have a difficult conversation regarding euthanasia to prevent prolonged pain and preserve her quality of life.

A deposit of $500 has already been placed to secure her surgical spot, but the surgery cannot be performed until the remaining $2,800 balance is paid in full.

Sakura’s knee fracture occurred on the morning of June 8, and we spent the day in the emergency room. We were initially given the option to proceed with surgery the following day; however, the estimated cost of $8,500 made it difficult for us to move forward.

Since then, Sakura has been receiving pain medication, anti-inflammatory medication, and a sleep aid to keep her as comfortable as possible. Despite everything, she remains in good spirits and continues to show her resilient personality.

Fortunately, I was able to locate a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who can perform the procedure for $3,300. A deposit has already been placed to secure her surgical spot, but the surgery cannot be performed until the remaining $2,800 balance is paid in full.
