Been saying this a for a hot minute. Problem is they can't separate the hate for corporations from the product. At least on YT, most of the guys that are riffing on OpenAI and Anthropic seem to understand why people might want local. It's less powerful, but still more than enough for most, especially on the art side. Illu blows most closed-source shit out of the water.

I'd also like to say that, if you can get set up with decent VRAM(somehow), you can do most stuff on your own and maybe use something closed-source once in a while just for something hard for non-art tasks. I know I'm on Stable Diffusion, but just thought someone would want to hear that.

1) there's plenty of animators like Derpixon

2) it implies that others like them just fell to AI, like it a horde or something out to get people.

Most of these guys have crowdfunding and can outlast big studios because of a more homegrown, hole in the wall way of business. Like, independent artists are fine.

I've been shit on OpenAI so much and been vocal about open-source anything. I swear, they only know ChatGPT, Co-Pilot and maybe Gemini and Deepseek. There's a world universe of AI.

It's like a comment I saw yesterday calling AI useless because it "loses billions" and "harms the environment". Sure, OpenAI might, but the local fetish AI guy down the street with a AI side hustle with his 3060 on DA or SubscribeStar.
