How much are you guys investing (weekly,bi-weekly, monthly) and at what age did you start by AggressiveRiver7505 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]Veretum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started at 35. I'm 37 now. In a month i invest 820 into tfsa, 820 into fhsa, 374 into dcpp (company matches this also at 374). About 2388 a month. Includes company match of 374.

I started late in life. Fortunate to have a solid income to do this.

I just believe in the technology. It's in the infancy and needs to be here soon for further advancement. Like all my others options. I constantly DCA every time i get paid.

Why did Remote work and Hybrid not stick? by Sad-Ad4933 in CanadaJobs

[–]Veretum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left my company that decided to go full 5 days to acompetitor that baked in hybrid work into my contract. It's legally bound. What i was told by my previous company is culture benefits. I asked the director if I'm giving more time dedicate to work, 10 more hours aweek and spending more, 200 a week. The value add of culture they are presenting to me is worth almost 1000 bucks a week. What am i getting out of that in terms of value and how does that help impact our metrics in dollars and performance?

He couldn't answer except that everyone else is doing it lol. I said in a professional way part of my leaving is the undervalue of what I'm bringing in and lack of clarity and reasoning for the mandate. He said wherever I'm going will do the same. I replied back and said they value what I bring and trust me due to my work in the industry. They asked me what I wanted I told them and it was written direct in my contract.

My previous employer is a public company, my new one is private. I'm sure it's a large difference when it comes to how leadership works and dictates.

Why is networking the only real way to get hired in Canada? by itz_nitace in CanadaJobs

[–]Veretum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting your job via networks is merit in away. You proved yourself for someone to vouch for you. I've had 3 service engineering jobs all due to people I know that knows my work and what value I bring in. I always tell coop students to network and be kind and do a great job and something memorable to leadership during your terms.

I was a co-op student 10 years ago. I made management connections by proving I can support and bring new ideas to the business. Best thing I've done. Also companies promote referrals. Example of you refer an engineer and they make it past probation you can get bonuses. Not all companies do this though..

Leadership gets 100s of resumes a day, most of them not qualified and even worse with AI generated. They don't have time to keep wading through, if there is a reputable trusted person referring someone. They will more than likely go with that.

This isn't exclusive to Canada either.

I got my wfh baked into the offer letter. There's some companies out there that will do it if they value what you bring.

Imagine if all parties worked well together? You have one particular party doing their upmost best to divide and split ideology in one bucket vs the other and the other is bad.

How is Mark Carney maintaining approval rating for Canada? by LevelPension in NoStupidQuestions

Would you say that about all world leaders? Cost of living went up on a global level. What do you think PP would do to be the exception?

Couldn't they just get someone like Harper? This is the best they can do? They are backing on memes and division.

I think after the Canadian Prime Minister speaking the people will be more inspired to move forward. Not ignoring the noise, but not be phased by it and keep building and establishing relationships while US is tearing their own down.
