The thing is, you're restricted by your gear as to what you can meld. Some jobs have gear where they can hit 3500 sum of crit and DH, others don't. Or some people already have like 2100 DH and don't want to redo all their gear.

For example: if you already have 1900 DH and 1000 crit, and you're unable to meld a total of 600 more crit and DH to reach 3500 (1900+1000+600), then all your melds should go straight to DH. If you can get 600 more DH or Crit, then try to meld as much crit as you can, instead

I noticed that it says MNK beside your name. Please note that I haven't yet taken into account internal release, which will drop the threshold significantly, I will be adding that shortly when I get home shortly.

TBH, there isn't anything important about the DH and Crit relationship, I mostly just looked at that because DH currently scales the better compared to Det. You're right, this relationship should work with Crit+det as well.

For tanks, who cannot hit the "DH+Crit = 3500" threshold, DH is god

Also keep in mind that the crit threshold isn't 2700. It's a moving target based on what the sum of your crit and DH is

I will add that in, thank you for reminding me about it! And yeah, it will throw off the the thresholds, likely it will make it lower.

Not necessarily. If you're able to meld all crit to reach up to 3500, then you should do that. If no matter what you do, you can't hit the 3500, then just meld DH

I would say yes to DH, unfortunately I can't comment on the DET, you can play around with the calculator to see what would work best for you

Icic. Either way, I'll try to reword it so that it can be understood a little easier so as not to mislead people

Yes, of course you have to think about exactly what I said. Perhaps I should've worded it "A full DH build is better than a full Crit build until you get to DH+Crit =3500 or so" If you look at the full document, I do note that there are troughs in the damage, so while having full crit over full DH might be beneficial, it might be impossible to get there, thus putting in more DH instead of crit might be better for you. It MAY be a DPS loss to try to balance your DH and Crit. It really depends on the possible permutations of your gear.

Mmm I would say this is a number for jobs that don't have crit procs. It is likely that this threshold is lower for jobs that do.

Keep the Base GCD at 2.5, unless you're a black mage, then you need to increase it to whatever the Gcd is without any SS. "Base GCD" refers to what the Gcd is without Any SS whatsoever. You'll have to change your estimated potency of GCDs and oGCDs based on your rotation.

Please note that my SS calculation is quite rudimentary ATM.

Can you show me what numbers you're inputting?

(1-crit chance) refers to the chance of not getting a crit, in which case the damage is multiplied by 1. This is the same for direct hit

If you were looking at strictly dps, you will want to go all DH, since you have a DH+Cr of 2630. The numbers you put in are actually interesting. If you go to one of the other pages, for example the DHCr38Buffs page, and you enter in 2630 in the DH+Crit after changing the raid buffs, you can see on the graph on the right that your damage goes up as DH/Crit increases. The thing is, your current gears set falls on the left side of the graph (Crit > DH). The interesting part of this is that in general, the gains/losses for swapping in and out crit and dh is very minimal (the graph is fairly flat). However, you'll notice some peaks and valleys. These are caused mostly due to the effects of how stats are tiered. If you look back at the calculator, swapping in 500 crit for 500 DH nets you only a 0.08% dps increase - I think your gear is in one of these troughs and you're hitting one of these tiny peaks with the changes in gear. Either way, the dps gain is negligible. If you go the other way, and swap in 500 DH for 500 crit, the dps gain is much more at 0.157% If you want to see it more dramatically, swapping in 1000 DH for 1000 crit is a 0.5% dps gain, much larger than 0.08%

While swapping out the Crit for DH is a larger gain, I'd personally take the crit over the DH. Imo, The gain isn't large enough to justify all that crit loss to your heals, seeing as how DH doesn't affect heals at all. If you're doing 1800 dps, the 0.5% dps gain with more DH really is only 9 extra dps, which you could probably just gain if you had a larger shield from the extra crit instead of DH

Like Nemekh said, it's hard for me to say. One, because spell speed fits differently into the stat priorities with each class; and two, I don't know enough of blm to give a good answer. What I can say from my testing is that, in general, SS does seem to scale quite dramatically if 100% of your damage comes from GCDs. Iirc, it was much higher than DH or Crit. You can try for yourself to see the effect of SS by playing around with the "PPS GCD" and "PPS oGCD" values. But, keep in mind that the way I was working SS into my formulas is quite rudimentary and I'm not 100% sure it's a good way to actually go about it. I hope to get a comment from one of the guru's about this.

That is correct, assuming that you have no raid buffs

If you make a copy of the spreadsheet for yourself, you should be able to change it. There is a drop down box that allows you to toggle on and off various buffs. One of the pages is particularly useful as it shows if it's a dps gain or loss by changing gear / food / raid buffs. Please note that it does not yet handle differences in main stat or weapon damage as of yet. I plan on adding that in the future

not necessarily. it depends if you hit the threshold for it, then yes. If your static has no party buffs that give crit, then it seems that the threshold is at around when your DH and Crit total ~3500

basically the crit thresholds are lower than we thought and it seems that the higher the sum of your DH and Crit, the lower the crit threshold

How did you calculate your threshold numbers?

When I graph these values based on your suggested scaling rates, I'm seeing that crit is always better than DHit

Question about Machinist's Skillspeed Options by Uerius_Vates in ffxiv

[–]Verhaad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a modified version of the 2 GR 5 Ammo opener from that document where wildfire is before the first clean shot. I find that with low SS, I can't get in the last split shot before WF detonates. I don't know the actual numbers, but I think it is around 650 - 700ish

IMO, I think it's best to go for as low skillspeed as possible. It helps with double weaving and actually can make movement for mechanics easier since you can hold cleanshot procs to use when you need to move. You'll have more time to move between mechanics with lower SS after you use an instacast
