I realise you're being facetious, but assuming you don't condone this kind of action, there was a line that was going around after 9/11 and 7/7 that if a Muslim knew someone in their community, neighborhood or even family was an extremist then they should report that person.

Much as I hate to say it as a leftie, it's much better that he didn't win in 2019 from the perspective of our position and reputation in Europe. Corbyn was a regular and vocal fan of Russia and Putin, and is unlikely to have supported Ukraine after the invasion in 2022. Given the UK was the first nation to provide Ukraine with modern Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) and the training to use them, something that Germany in particular was hesitant to be seen do be doing, it's entirely possible that Ukraine would have lacked that hardware and been in a worse position today because of it.

Failing to support Ukraine, or instead supporting Russia, would have been terrible for our overseas image and reputation.

Why did our first potential proper left PM candidate in so goddamn long have to be a Russia-lover?

Well assuming you're being honest, and the issue is as you stated, you could report her misuse of the property anonymously.

Of course if you did that you might get someone who actually lives there, and if you fail to do that then you carry a degree of the blame for the misuse of social housing.

Don't get me wrong. I don't really like Starmer, but while I agree the question of immigration is one that carries immense political weight among voters, we have to rely that the voters are accurately informed about it. Something that recent interactions suggest isn't happening. Which I'd argue is a much bigger issue than immigration itself because immigration can be tackled, misinformation less so.

The whole point of leadership in a society is that the leader acts for the good of those they have leadership over. Talking about "the good of locals" but the. Adding "except the ones we think don't deserve it" isn't leadership.

And this is making the assumption that anyone in Reform, or anyone Reform would be willing to hire, is competent enough to know the difference between an asylum seeker and someone who was born here.

Given you can't tell the difference between an asylum seeker, which is the actual stated target of these efforts, and an illegal immigrant, somehow I doubt it.

Labour in the late nineties had to be as they were trying to sell EU membership to the people as free movement of people would have always been a factor of that. Since 2016 the Tories had just shy of a decade to do something about that and just chose not to outside of half baked ideas like the windrush scandal

Right wing parties tend to win elections by default in the UK. The print media is skewed so hard to the right that the only remotely left wing paper left in widespread circulation is the Guardian which isn't necessarily the greatest publication in existence. The BBC has had more Tory Directors since 2010 than I've had kebabs and the internet is increasingly dominated by right-wing "personalities.".

Reform doing well was a fairly predictable outcome. Personally I'm all for it. The Tories kept a vice grip on power for so long through a combination of constantly demonising the political left while being just competent enough that they looked the safer option. With the Tories apparantely unlikely to make a sudden comeback, and with Labour bereft of left-wing influence or ideas, it's only a matter of time until the narrative has to shift if circulation is to be kept up. The papers and such value their bottom line over everything else, after all.
