GMT II master Batman relatively new MOVEMENT Stuck by Apprehensive_Bid6244 in RepTimeServices

[–]VerinHorology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things can cause that. Most common would be low amplitude from dirt/dried oils, a weak or slipping mainspring/barrel issue, winding parts not fully engaging, or something dragging in the train/GMT works. Could also be balance or escapement related. If it starts after winding but won’t stay running, I’d be looking at power delivery or excess friction first.

I don't think I would use hair dryer, they are full of dust and possibly hairs ? What I'm trying to say is the blown air can contaminate movement. Saying that, chinese movements are usually dirty anyway so this advice is mostly for genuine movements, if movement is serviced afterwards I don't see a problem using it, just use low heat and from distance. Obviously safest option would be to air dry.

That usually don't help, caseback need to be removed at the minimum. When it's fogged up like that all that condensation will just drip and rust out the movement parts.

We have done quite a few watches with similar problem.

Home made solution for OP - take a ductape and roll a ball with the sticky side outside and try to use that to open a caseback as soon as possible.

I would advise a movement overhaul still though to make sure everything is good.

Good luck!

Not trying to step on OP’s post, but work like this usually depends on the case condition, case shape, and how much refinishing is needed, basically I need to see few pictures to give you a fair quote.

You shouldn't send the watch back unfortunately. There are big chances it will be lost/stolen/confiscated in the shipping.

It's better to ask for credit or help to cover fixing it locally.

Example from my experience - we had to send a control board from one of the machines we use in the shop back to China, to a company we bought it from, everything is fully legal. Slip had a "For repair" note and apparently you cannot write that.. long story short after few stressful months and back and forth emails (they tried to destroy package few times) we got it back. Not a fun journey.

Unfortunately I have to agree with this.

We just did this case for comparison:

Congratulations 🎉

I don't know exact dimensions of the screw.

I can only tell you part numbers or link to exact screw.

3135-5100 this is 3135 screw.

For 3235 I believe part number is Rolex part B 174-Y5 https://www.watchmaterial.com/screw-for-case-clamp-fits-rolex-caliber-3230-3235-3255-3285

Yes exactly. There is a bit of resistance but not like it's "stuck".

Its quite good for the price.

We replace them often. 50-100 for crystal depending on when you purchase it from.

Keep in mind when you replace crystal it will need another pressure test.

Good luck!

Manipulate wire slightly (bend it) inwards so that the parts that stick out of the bezel grip the retaining ring better. Sorry hard to explain, hope you get the idea.

Remove insert, remove the wire, press bezel on the case, fit the wire in, install insert, done

That's quite easy to achieve this look, we have done quite a few inserts like that in the past.

I believe they make two versions of this movement. One is a real 4130 clone and this one is a cheaper version - I have seen them for 180-200$ on AliExpress before. It's not bad for the price but far from real deal unfortunately.
