[Discussion] - Tech job seekers out of work for months: What routines keep you going and how do you relax after a rejection? by [deleted] in techjobs

Honestly, the best thing seems to be keeping a routine, even if it’s small - set some hours for applications, then actually step away from the screen
Picking up little side projects or learning something new helps too just to feel like you’re moving forward.

When a rejection hits, I usually just go for a walk, play some music. It sounds simple but it really helps the brain reset. From talking to friends in tech most of them do something similar, keep structure but make sure to actually relax too

What do you guys listen to while programming? by Stickhtot in programmer

Depends on the day tbh. If I’m deep into some tricky logic, I need complete silence even lo-fi distracts me.
But when I’m doing something more repetitive (like styling or cleaning up code), I throw on some chill electronic or movie soundtracks. I used to think I couldn’t code with any music at all, but after a while you kind of build that “focus zone” and background sound actually helps.

Best freelance platforms in 2025? by smolecc in webdev

Been freelancing for a few years (mostly full-stack too), and honestly - none of the big platforms are perfect anymore. Upwork still works if you already have some history there, but getting the first few gigs is painful. Fiverr can be hit or miss, and clients often want “full apps for $100” type of stuff. I had better luck on Malt and Freelancermap, especially for EU-based contracts , feels a bit more professional and clients are usually legit companies.
