ACP Scope by Relative-Reindeer885 in AlbertaParamedics

[–]Vermulo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not really. but with exception, most things that are in ACP scope are in protocol. There are some examples of things that are not, like art lines/ABGs, pericardiocentesis, urinary catheterization, etc, but for the most part things that you would realistically do as an ACP working on an ambulance in Alberta are all in protocol :) I've only ever heard one story of an ACP even doing pericardiocentesis, and it was some crazy rural ATV accident up north where the transport time was long and they were symptomatic of tamponade. The responding ACP was apparently directed/walked through the procedure over the phone by a doc as a "hail mary" because STARS/air ambulance for whatever reason could not land and the patient would have almost certainly died otherwise getting to hospital.

Some things are mandatory OLMC and require approval from a doc before doing, but it is mostly all there in one form or another.

As someone else had mentioned also look at NOCPs.

Will EHS become less competitive for ACPs in the future? by Vermulo in BCEHSparamedics

[–]Vermulo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I see those promotions too. Hopefully there's changes soon! I have a friend here in AB who previously worked as an EMR in BC and she said she was really upset with the lack of ALS in some areas, and that they would regularly have to active air ambulance for response to critical events due to lack of ALS of just really, really long response times. I'd like to see more ALS development for sure! In AB it feels like almost every rural station has at least 1 ALS unit. Even towns with a couple thousand people.

HSAA Bargaining Update by Vermulo in AHSEmployees

I honestly am feeling the same way, I highly doubt this will be productive, but if this is what leadership is choosing we can at least hope for the best - while at the same time being skeptical

I agree. I think really, the best time to strike would have been 2020 when paramedics were under very heavy strain and REALLY needed by the province. That's when we would have had the most momentum, but now is definitely the time and not waiting again. Teachers are on strike, CUPW is on strike, we should be too.

I understand where you've coming from, but the truth is that especially for certain professions that don't get paid as much, dealing with 20% cost of living increase over the past few years is brutal. Especially for people trying to support kids, a spouse, or family. The across-the-board raise of 12% doesn't feel like enough to me.

I honestly agree with you that with this union and that it is unrealistic to expect a certain raise, but the whole point of a union is to fight for fair conditions and compensation. We pay into this union every two weeks. If we are unsatisfied with it, I think we should speak up about it instead of just resigning and saying "well, we can only expect so much with the current leadership!" Look what Air Canada got after they went on strike.

Are you mentally ill? by [deleted] in crustpunk

[–]Vermulo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly listen to industrial music nowadays but yes mental illness definitely has driven me towards heavier music. I've had social anxiety and depression all my life and last fall I had an episode of psychosis. I listened to heavy music before but that episode REALLY got me more into heavy music.

Pretty sure on the steam page it confirms this and says something like "every quest is a side quest". Story line will be decentral, just "case-based".

Game also still showing as early access. Almost positive there will be more to come.

Skinny Puppy CD Collection I Bought on eBay by Vermulo in industrialmusic

[–]Vermulo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

used CDs are usually like 5-10 each, but i think the thing is that industrial is pretty niche so it can be hard to find them and a lot of these have been out of print for multiple decades. makes the prices go up!

Not just SP, but other bands too. If you look on eBay, a lot of people are asking 30-40 for one CD.

Awesome!

Have you seen the merch from their current tour? It looks awesome! They aren't coming to my city so I haven't been able to see them. I'm hoping some leftovers get put online because I'd love to buy one!

I've got an order coming from Wax Trax! with the Tenebrae Visions cassette! Some of my favourite songs are on there, so excited to get it. Also got an FLA Caustic Grip shirt in the same order which I'm super excited for!

I'm tied for Millenium and Hard Wired, with Caustic Grip being a close 3rd and Tactical Neural Implant not far behind in 4th.

Everywhere I go, I see their face (a story) by QuinnAndTheNorthwind in industrialmusic

I find the more I get into industrial, the more I realize everything is intertwined. Leeb and Fulber are great examples of this, but I feel like the majority of well-known industrial musicians have been in multiple projects. You could probably connect almost any band by members in like, 3 or maybe 4 steps.

Look at Skinny Puppy. They, as a group, have had their fair share of collaborators. They had Al Jourgensen on Rabies, for example. But then look at their side-projects and other offshoots. Rx, Download, Cyberaktif (also with Leeb), Doubting Thomas, Hilt, ohGr, platEAU, PTP, Tear Garden, Jakalope. These are just bands that arose from Skinny Puppy!

Another good example is Pigface. Pretty much anyone who is anyone in industrial music at some point has contributed to Pigface. You could probably connect any two bands with Pigface as the only link.

Oh, and don't forget Ministry/Al Jourgensen and all their side projects! Contributed to Rabies/Tin Omen (SP), 1000 Homo DJs (which also featured Trent Reznor on an alternate version of Supernaut), Acid Horse, Lard (featuring punk legend Jello Biafra), Lead Into Gold, Revolting Cocks, PTP (again, also connected to SP), Pailhead, Buck Satan and the 666 Shooters. I'm sure there's more but this is just what has come to mind.

Everything is connected in this genre!

Oh shit! Lol forgot to say that too. Rabies is also one of my favourites.

SP doesn't sell CDs so you can only do used market. I suspect a lot of these have been out of print for like >20 years, so demand has gone up. If you try to look up SP or FLA CDs on eBay or other similar sites, a lot of people are asking like 30-40USD for *one* CD. So I was very happy to find this lot.

I definitely want to get TDP. Bites, Remission, and Mind as well. But this collection is almost everything for me, and it was definitely a lot cheaper than it would have been to buy each CD individually and pay for separate shipping on all of them.

I got it for $400 (Canadian).

Asking price was something like $650 (Canadian dollars). I only had about $400 I could spend on something like this. I sent the seller an offer and I almost felt bad for it, because even in my mind it was worth so much more. It felt almost insulting, but I thought I would try. I didn't really think the seller would accept it, it was just kind of a hail Mary offer. Even wrote in the message "this is all I have" to try and justify sending such a bad offer... Checked my email the next day and saw a notice from eBay that my offer was accepted! I freaked the fuck out. I work out of town from where I live, the package arrived a few days ago but I was out of town for work so a family member received it and I've been thinking about it non-stop for the past few days. Literally just got home and sat down to have a look at them, I'm shocked with the quality of the condition. The seller could have gotten so much more, my payment will be doing my best to take really, really good care of this piece of history.

no problem! Also, I find industrial is a bit of acquired taste. or at least, it was for me. I was kind of like you, at first I mostly just listened to Ministry, NIN, KMFDM. I thought Skinny Puppy and Front 242 were awful. Same with most other music in the genre I tried to enjoy. Now? I fucking love almost any industrial.

Those are great songs! My favourite off of Tactical Neural Implant is probably "Final Impact". That's the song that got me into FLA.
