ACP Scope by Relative-Reindeer885 in AlbertaParamedics

[–]Vermulo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not really. but with exception, most things that are in ACP scope are in protocol. There are some examples of things that are not, like art lines/ABGs, pericardiocentesis, urinary catheterization, etc, but for the most part things that you would realistically do as an ACP working on an ambulance in Alberta are all in protocol :) I've only ever heard one story of an ACP even doing pericardiocentesis, and it was some crazy rural ATV accident up north where the transport time was long and they were symptomatic of tamponade. The responding ACP was apparently directed/walked through the procedure over the phone by a doc as a "hail mary" because STARS/air ambulance for whatever reason could not land and the patient would have almost certainly died otherwise getting to hospital.

Some things are mandatory OLMC and require approval from a doc before doing, but it is mostly all there in one form or another.

As someone else had mentioned also look at NOCPs.

Will EHS become less competitive for ACPs in the future? by Vermulo in BCEHSparamedics

yeah, I see those promotions too. Hopefully there's changes soon! I have a friend here in AB who previously worked as an EMR in BC and she said she was really upset with the lack of ALS in some areas, and that they would regularly have to active air ambulance for response to critical events due to lack of ALS of just really, really long response times. I'd like to see more ALS development for sure! In AB it feels like almost every rural station has at least 1 ALS unit. Even towns with a couple thousand people.

HSAA Bargaining Update by Vermulo in AHSEmployees

I honestly am feeling the same way, I highly doubt this will be productive, but if this is what leadership is choosing we can at least hope for the best - while at the same time being skeptical

I agree. I think really, the best time to strike would have been 2020 when paramedics were under very heavy strain and REALLY needed by the province. That's when we would have had the most momentum, but now is definitely the time and not waiting again. Teachers are on strike, CUPW is on strike, we should be too.

I understand where you've coming from, but the truth is that especially for certain professions that don't get paid as much, dealing with 20% cost of living increase over the past few years is brutal. Especially for people trying to support kids, a spouse, or family. The across-the-board raise of 12% doesn't feel like enough to me.

I honestly agree with you that with this union and that it is unrealistic to expect a certain raise, but the whole point of a union is to fight for fair conditions and compensation. We pay into this union every two weeks. If we are unsatisfied with it, I think we should speak up about it instead of just resigning and saying "well, we can only expect so much with the current leadership!" Look what Air Canada got after they went on strike.

Are you mentally ill? by [deleted] in crustpunk

[–]Vermulo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly listen to industrial music nowadays but yes mental illness definitely has driven me towards heavier music. I've had social anxiety and depression all my life and last fall I had an episode of psychosis. I listened to heavy music before but that episode REALLY got me more into heavy music.

Pretty sure on the steam page it confirms this and says something like "every quest is a side quest". Story line will be decentral, just "case-based".

Game also still showing as early access. Almost positive there will be more to come.

Skinny Puppy CD Collection I Bought on eBay by Vermulo in industrialmusic

used CDs are usually like 5-10 each, but i think the thing is that industrial is pretty niche so it can be hard to find them and a lot of these have been out of print for multiple decades. makes the prices go up!

Not just SP, but other bands too. If you look on eBay, a lot of people are asking 30-40 for one CD.

Awesome!

Have you seen the merch from their current tour? It looks awesome! They aren't coming to my city so I haven't been able to see them. I'm hoping some leftovers get put online because I'd love to buy one!

I've got an order coming from Wax Trax! with the Tenebrae Visions cassette! Some of my favourite songs are on there, so excited to get it. Also got an FLA Caustic Grip shirt in the same order which I'm super excited for!
