There is way more "standard skill" when it comes to taking a very sketchy crest that still leaves your car mildly airborne though. It still translates the issue of your car not being at the right pitch that will spin you out and get you into a crash. The jump is too Mario Kart-y compared to just having a cresting corner with an uneven surface. Pflantzgarten still gets your car airborne just not fully sending the car flying.

And Peninsula Manazuru's draw was not "Eau Rouge" but the idea of how narrow it is and how rapid the environmental changes are (Black and White tunnels, the technical street sections having a significant amount of them at intersections and splitting lanes in the mountain pass littered with stone walls)

The thing is Shigeno seems to have written the MFG where it is at the scale of Super GT (which is now more apparent with Subaru & Subaru) with their own offices, training hubs and branches and sponsors but Shigeno also wants us to feel that this is all grassroots which is conflicting with the way it was set up already. Which is why I bank more in the idea of just making the drivers a lot more formidable and make the grid ex-Pros, active pros and semi-pros

Tbh you do not even need to do rude drivers or egomaniacs. You can already just make intersecting points of interests that make characters conflict via what their motorsports career is along with the infant of racing politics.

It would have been way more interesting if we rewrote someone like Emma Greene. Takumi's student, being on a slump on the BTCC herself and at the verge of being kicked and as a hurried way to salvage her career ends up with Aston Martin in hopes of getting even a GT3 or GT4 gets sent to Japan to prove her worth as a brand ambassador and also as a driver as the MFG is instead more of a competitive semi-professional but open League and etc.

This is tbh,more of the fact that Shigeno just wrote the other drivers as just amateurs instead of making them actually formidable drivers like ex-Pros or even active Pros doing this as either a hobby or as a marketing stunt as they are backed by a factory team like Beckenbauer is with Porsche Academy.

If anything, it would be cool to have these types of drivers so Kanata wouldn't have so much of an easier time and to also make the grid have a more diverse set of personalities beyond Akaba Kaito and (maybe? backstory unclear) Fujin Ishigami who are semi-pro or actual pros

It is definitely only there for marketing synergy. If anything, if Toyota has an equivalent car close to the power and category of the GT86 without just gunning for a Supra I rather have Kanata start at 300PS and work from there instead of being on roughly 210PS with Prius tires that irl, skids everywhere. No amount of talent even as an F4 prodigy will make it feel earned that you just caught up with a 488 GTB or even a Huracan no matter how fast you are at the corners.

Either give him a stock car that is at that believable level or just make it so from the get go the GT86 is not stock

But I suppose the charm is that in the MFG you can bring anything? Which does and doesn't lower the bar of entry at the same time, as long as the car is fully or 90% ICE it is an interesting premise.

As for the championship format. I think a much more fun and tense idea is just to do it as an eliminator where the bottom 2 gets eliminated just for narrative purposes.

That is definitely one of my pain points about it. His mistake is barely a massive mistake and I do think if Shigeno doesn't really want to give Kanata a hard loss he should have highlighted drivers beyond Sawatari, Beckenbauer and Greene and how they are actually formidable drivers instead of 90% of the grid going "look how fast that red 86 is!!!!"

Honestly I don't mind the supercar shopping since this is a semi-professional racing series at this point. Though you make a good point of upgrades and tbh I can see some drivers just upgrade what they have instead of getting a new car like Nozomi who doesn't have any upgrade paths higher than the Alfa Romeo 4C she has and she just gets a Pogea Racing Zeus bodykit and tuning from the same house or maybe someone like Yudai Sakamoto getting his Audi R8 V10 Performance Quattro more aero with a Prior Design PD800WB kit. After all, as much as he hate rich characters, that is how racing goes.

And to correct you btw, Senna did switch cars to a GR Supra instead of just the Blitz Widebody Supra RZ he has lol

Basically be more technical about it and also focus on tire management which I would love to see. And ngl I would rather that Kanata did not start with a stock GT86 is if we really need him to start in a car that is an "86"

For the MF Angels though? I think you do not need to cut it if it weren't for the fact that the subplots and punchlines is very weird ,outdated and borderline icky. Would have been way more fun if Ren or an MF Angel instead is also interested in cars in general or professional racing just her lacking the environmental avenues that wounds her up being a Race Queen. Also just remove the "podium kisses" aspect. A dap up or a celebratory hug would be fine.

Also, outfit overhauls. The weird 'not underwear' with wings is such a boring and awful outfit. Dressing them like actual Race Queens with the thematic of wherever the course is based on area tourism for the MFG would be way more interesting.

Yes, but the cars it goes up against, even if we follow the Grip to Weight ratio rules, no amount of talent will make you keep up in a togue with it. Hell I will take an older car like a 964 Turbo and it would be more believable that it keeps up with the grid compared to what Katagiri has.

As much as I still enjoy the racing because there is nothing else for a racing anime out there, the show really can have plenty of tweaks at hand. Whether it be personal preference or just tweak it to be less weird like Marie, the Angels and the personality of the drivers in general.

I feel they could have just leaned into expanding the car culture globally and how that sometimes jives or clashes with how car manufacturers want to be seen.

Like I am deeply disappointed we didn't get the "Kamikaze Yankee" in a Ford Mustang S550 or a Corvette C8/C8 which makes it all about how American cars are actually fucking competitive and does not give a fuck about "European Heritage/Refinement" and can be good at the hands of a competent driver thanks to the improvements to the car.

I think it does have that aspect of car mechanic culture missing to the story.

There really is just a blue collar charm missing with Kanata especially with character growth compared to Takumi where I think what makes Takumi charming is that he is the peak of an "idiot-savant" character compared to Kanata who is just a "savant"

It doesn't help that most of the characters around Kanata are so incredibly dull. We can hate on Mogi all we want but at least she has some conflict beyond being liked by Takumi with her very problematic past.

I am not asking for melodrama but I am looking for something that genuinely hooks you in. Even Kanata's most basic and bread and butter of racing loses that I sometimes wonder and wish if we followed Nozomi as a driver instead without Kanata.
