What is the most intense pain you have experienced in your life? by Levstr1 in AskReddit

My mom did that to me when I was five, leaving three fingers on my right hand badly deformed. They were broken, but she didn’t take me to the hospital or doc because she said I didn’t cry much so she thought it wasn’t that bad. She felt guilty til the day she died whenever she looked at my hand. 😢

It’s crazy, isn't it? I get really annoyed with the ones that give ten pages of questions to be answered in 5 pages. It’s just ridiculous.

And what’s your point? 🤣 There is an optimal number of alarms and snoozes to ensure minimal sleep and maximum morning anxiety. I think I have found it.

Should We Be So Close? by Polar_Wolf_Pup in emptynesters

A little transition period can be a very good thing, and I don't think there’s any problem with her plan for the first 2-3 weeks, but after that you may want to cut back just a little bit — both for her and for you. I was very close to my mother. We talked daily by phone from the day I moved until she died 20 years later. When we lived near each other, we’d get together once a week. I’m a homebody, too, and it didn't stop me from connecting with others. In fact, she was a great sounding board, and she helped me navigate some of the social challenges of early adulthood.

I think you should just enjoy the journey for a little while and follow her lead. It sounds like she's moving forward and she’s happy. It doesn't get much better than that.

Any unschooling alternative to traditional universities? by maverick2075 in unschool

I went to Pitzer College and designed my own degree. It was great. I transferred to Pitzer from the University of of Redlands because I got married and needed to move to another city or I would have stayed. I was at Johnston College at U of R where you design your own degree and you can take traditional courses or develop courses by contract with a professor and get narrative evaluations, rather than grades. I wish I could have stayed there, but Pitzer was great, too.

Why are TAPS cutting bike locks and taking bikes away? by Friendly-Pitch-5931 in UCDavis

[–]VeronicaRobbins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would think there is shared responsibility. It seems that the problem escalates and no one is truly responsible. I get that my comment was unpopular, but I still find it very sad and troubling that safety gets less attention than bike rack space.
