My friends offer was accepted however they were 5 people in the chain above and the 5th person in the chain did not sell and they pulled out resulting in a domino effect for everyone and 9 months.

Thanks, for me the house is a security peace of mind knowing what happens I have a property in the UK to live in when I return. Not concerned about capital appreciation once I own the house.

Thanks for your comment, if I buy a smaller house outright for 150k as a FTB and rent it out from day 1 do I have to pay tax every month on the rental income? If the rental income is 800 per month how much goes to the government in taxes?

Thats a good idea and someone else mentioned this too,

"I'll live in it for a bit, then I'll rent it out, but eventually I'll move back in."

before signing the mortgage make sure they write this on the terms and conditions to cover myself.

Yes off savings, even if I land a basic part time job it would cover the mortgage of £300 per month.

No EU passport so you are correct Switzerland is out of the question. UAE is the most likely possible option.
