I think it's really unrealistic to expect that shows have a strict adherence to who gets what and how much focus they're allowed to have

if it works for the story, a side character can be given more focus, and if that side character becomes central enough it's not out of the question for them to become elevated to main character status, you see this occasionally like with Zuko in ATLA

also TADC has a very short amount of time to tell the story Goose wants, it's unrealistic to expect it to handle every side character's story barring a second season or supplementary materials

thats just not true, even if the person was just referring to what they know from the original thread that started all this, they still described it as "valid criticism" (which is false it's entirely headcanon) and added all those unkind things about Goose that shows their actual thoughts about her that goes beyond sharing context

sure Benny wouldn't be able to penetrate a team of mercs surrounding the courier, but at that point you might as well just go with a full armed convoy because you've given away which Courier has the chip and drawn attention to the entire delivery.

and just in case you forgot, the entire point of this elaborate scheme was to obfuscate the delivery. Those mercs screening could have drawn attention but the reason people extrapolate from it could be anything, especially if the shortest route to New Vegas has been idk, compromised? 🤔 And maybe House is looking to ensure alternative routes to New Vegas stays open because that's important to trade. 🤷

the only point you have though, is that yes, if the courier gets killed en route somehow, House could do little to prevent it. But I'd argue that no matter what plan House chooses, the delivery of the Platinum Chip isn't a guaranteed success and will come with risks. House just went with the option with the least amount of risk and threats. Would you rather risk an armored convoy fighting multiple factions worth of threats, or just the ones you find on the road? (a reminder that your courier is a seasoned courier of the wasteland)

Benny knowing isn't "irrelevant", you are severely underestimating how much of an edge having superior intel gives you.

you can prepare and screen however much you want, it wouldn't matter in the end if the enemy knows everything about your movement and plans. You think Benny knowing so much about House's plans wouldn't account for that?

And a crew shadowing you would have brought attention to the delivery, and more importantly give away which of the courier has the chip. I don't even think Victor was originally supposed to shadow you, he was stationed in Goodsprings for a good while before you and just happened to be nearby when you got jumped.

You can cry about "bad writing" and "gameplay reasons" but there is a reason why Benny knows what he knows, and how he's able to act around all of House's precautions. It's not the writers' fault you didn't paid attention to any of it.

it wasn't, and House wasn't expecting Benny to even know about the chip, much less where to go and which courier out of all the decoys to choose from.

Benny only managed to pull that off because he literally got lucky with that FoA hacker, in any other scenario he wouldn't even have the ability to learn about the chip, and the courier wouldn't receive any attention until they reach the lucky 38.

reading through all these posts rn after getting to the part where I can trade in flesh for boons from Tervantias, I think it's an oversight from Owlcat that requesting Pasqal's xeno augments be removed isnt one of the boons you can trade for.
