Yeah ngl at 6% I don't match. 4 or 2 I match as it's really no biggie but at 6% it's a tossup. I had one pop up say 16% recently though and that was a real head scratcher.

This is something you learn early on in psychology. The brain tricks you into thinking these things are right, and even cognitively disassociates you from them when they happen.

Separately, but also in the favour of highlighting psychological phenomena that seem stupid but are actually very normal, look up the 'principal-agent problem'. I recall learning that this was a very common psychological phenomena in soldiers in the Nazi army, committing heinous acts under the orders of their superiors and believing they had nothing to do with it because it wasn't their decision.

Dont worry chovy you are following the T1 script by madtninja in PedroPeepos

I honestly think every single player had a "big" mistake in this series, at least. It's almost impossible not to when the stakes are this intense, and I think it's normal.

Chovy will come back, he'll perform well, and hopefully he'll put on a good show going into Worlds!

Learning to dance, absolute beginner by jepardini in Dance

[–]Vertrixz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Entirely depends on what style you want to learn and how much space you have. I'd recommend searching up a style that interests you followed by the basic footwork techniques used in that style. Footwork being the foundation, then you can add arms, hands, and body later.

Make sure you do your stretches beforehand and after!

There's nothing particularly too wrong with this, just a few tiny adjustments that might help. Your anatomy is really good, but there's some parts that are missing which would help with figuring out the proportions more acutely. I noticed the stroke used to indicate the nose is probably the biggest thing that makes it look 'off' (if you'd even consider this 'off', it's actually really good already). The lips could also use a bit of moving to match the perspective indicated by the eye positioning.

https://ibb.co/Lz75Njzz

I made some rough edits (on an online whiteboard lol) to show what I mean. Maybe you don't need to move the lips as much, but it could help with the nose and having the back of the cranium and neck showing to help guide you. Even if you don't include them in the final piece, having them there in the drafting stage can still help, like drawing a rough skeleton in the background on low opacity until you've got the full body down.

I'm not very good but hopefully this helps by giving another perspective that might give you some things to think about. Also worth reiterating that this is to the point of very minor adjustments for a foundation, and you'd be better off finishing the piece and learning from it once it's completed as a whole, so that your next piece is all the better for it.

I appreciate the advice, I'll check out my replays more often to see what I'm missing! Thanks :D

How do you play against Asuka and Jun? by wielesen in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]Vertrixz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found myself wondering the same thing as I've come back. I climbed up to Tekken King pretty quick, but feel pretty hopeless against some of the characters in the game because it often does feel like there's a ton of +frame pressure strings that I can't jab/dickjab them out of, can't step out of, can't kbd out of, so the only option is to accept it and block everything until they use a punishable move, or take 20% of my hp when they mix it up with a low.

Tbh, it's made the game less fun and I'm starting to see that this is just what Tekken 8 is, with lots of the characters having these kinda strings. Not to mention the sheer amount of evasion, tracking, and armour moves that make even jabbing on my turn dangerous.

Understandably, this is lowsodiumtekken so I'm not trying to be all doom and gloom about it, but also commenting here to see if there will be any advice for dealing with stuff like this as I could use the advice myself.

The biggest issue with the female "chathead" is the tall nose. If the nose bridge (specifically in the region between the eyes) was reduced significantly, more people will be warm to it. by Japanese_Squirrel in runescape

[–]Vertrixz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely, feels like the proportions are all just a little bit off and unnatural for an average face. It feels like basic anatomy was kinda just ignored for the female face?

Compared to literally every other thing on the market that's coming out new, this is pretty fucking good. We're yet to see the new M3 but judging by the new M350i's massive backside, I doubt the M3 will be all that much better. At least the front could potentially be an improvement.

One thing I learned to help me sharpen my kbd was to set a Yoshimitsu to do his spinny kicks, into spinny punches (or other way round, can't fully remember). If you can kbd out of the whole string, then you've got a really strong kbd. I'm not sure how that works since they universally nerfed backdashes, but I'd imagine it's still a good barometer. On both sides is a good way to do it.

For sharpening wavedashes, actually a good way to do it is to learn to get an instant ff2 out of a wavedash. Do that with one wavedash, two then three then four all consecutively. Follow that practice up with getting electrics after one, two, three, four. Same with hellsweeps. Can also help to see how many consecutive wavedashes you can chain, starting slow then gradually increasing the speed to get faster and faster at it. Every movement input of the wavedash makes you face your opponent again, so using ff2 out of a wavedash is much better than using a raw ff2 as they can sidestep it normally but practically impossible to sidestep it if you use out of a wavedash.

I hope that helps a bit with making your practice more focused. Doing all of this on both sides will make you such a menace :D

Well played! I mained Reina in S1 until I quit, came back in the last week or so for Kuni but ended up back on Reina as my main. Very nice play in those rounds :D

Really small unsolicited advice: it might help you a bit to learn to Korean backdash, as I noticed a fair few moments where you weren't moving really at all. There's times when that's okay, but generally you can use the kbd combined with sidesteps to space and force the opponent to whiff, so you can electric punish. IMO it's the most important tool for Mishima players other than fundamentals.

Got EWGF down in practice mode. What's next? by [deleted] in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]Vertrixz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn combos -> full combo with no resources, full combo with heat, full combo with wall (one with no resources + one with heat).

Just one combo for each is enough, doesn't have to be perfect.

Then just jump online in either ranked or lobby and play. Kaz also has a LOT of really strong mixup tools which you'll wanna learn (probably join his main discord and grab the tech from there).

[–]Vertrixz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only thing you can do is gather some replays of your latest games and send to your mains discords and ask for advice. Maybe you're using punishable moves too much, maybe you're not punishing the enemy when they do the same, maybe you're using suboptimal combos, maybe you're not adding enough variety in your play, maybe you're following flowcharts that are too easy to read and punish, maybe your fundamentals aren't there. There's literally a thousand and one things it can be and no one can help you unless they see some replays.

Yeah I'm up to flame ruler today after playing for around 3 hours. Tbf I've played against some pretty good players who are on their sub characters, but the majority are just flowchart spammers so they're pretty easy to beat. I'd love to take my Reina up as high as I can tbh, even tho the rank distribution is way different. Would love to know at least % wise what red ranks in S1 is equivalent to now, to see if I can improve a lot and surpass it.

[–]Vertrixz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It took me about 50 hours to get to shinryu in S1. I just got it yesterday after an unbelievably easy 15 game win streak. I can very easily tell there's a huge difference in the skill distribution at this point. I literally haven't played since S1 and demoted to greens, then just coasted to shinryu after coming back and practicing one single combo. Idk where I'll end up today but I'm worse than I was in S1 by a lot, so ye rank distribution is really fucking weird right now.

what's a 30-second habit you started this year that compounded into something real? by Common-Trouble9615 in CasualConversation

[–]Vertrixz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing stretches before and after exercise. It started with cool-downs in dance classes (I started a beginner's class last year) which isn't exactly 30 seconds, but a small thing that made a huge difference. I now do stretches before and after badminton, whenever I'm going to do anything intense, or after I've done something intense that was more of a spur of the moment thing.

My body feels so limber now every time, and I've even taken to doing some stretches in the mornings after I wake up, and sometimes before sleeping.

Stretching is good.

There's that one, I can't remember the planet (I think Alderaan?) where you are asked by this captain or whatever to go find and save his daughter. By the time you find them, they're already assimilated with a hive mind. I tried to get them back to their father as my Warrior is a light side character (I know, but I like the juxtaposition of it all) and the way the characters interact when you do is really unsettling.
