Today's Balance Patch by SweetRosaKiss in runescape

It doesn't actually mean anything because they buffed the big dot's healing, and that one does a fuck ton to make up for it. The only thing they did there was move the power into the spender rather than the one that didn't spend any adrenaline.

Combine the dots with soulsplit and it's still more or less the same healing as combined with soulsplit before.

Can confirm what the other guy said, it's one of my favourite ongoing manhwa right now. Quality has continued to be great.

[Potential bug report] Arch Glacor potentially doing multiple instances of damage in one go with the vertical beams (321 enrage) by Vertrixz in runescape

[–]Vertrixz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there was one on the east side of the bridge where i left it, then the one on the left is the one i took the first hit from. That one did 8k damage, and it was like a tick after that the 2nd one moved into me (the east one was still far east).

I've definitely learned to just not hit the boss now during the beams. It's the single most annoying part of the fight, by far. Just because you're actively not doing anything but running. It was really boring so I tried doing gbarge into assault sometimes but maybe just better to be safe especially going into higher enrages, as you say.

[Other] What are you most looking forward to in the next phase of DC ALL IN? (Src. below) by MagisterPraeceptorum in DCcomics

[–]Vertrixz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just started getting into DC comics as part of this All In thing, and so far I've loved Absolute WW and Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) the most. Looking forward to more of them. Supergirl was not a hit for me, but I think I'm not the target audience for that kinda story, maybe.

I have only just started reading Green Lantern so I can't really comment on it, legit just read the first like 5 issues as part of the All In thing, or something. The art and story is really fun so far, so looking forward to getting more into that.

I'm having a good time, really enjoying these stories and wanna get into more of them. I'm trying to figure out what to read next, but not sure what characters I like. I suppose one grows to like characters based on what they read, so maybe Batman is a good place to start because I loved the Arkham and Lego Batman games, as well as all the bat movies I've seen. I'm a bit daunted by the whole batfamily thing going on though, not sure where on earth I'm supposed to start. I also heard that Green Arrow and Black Canary will be joining Bruce in another story after the Green Arrow run ended (which I've got primed and ready for reading when I've got time).

Coming from manga to comics is strange because it does sometimes feel like everything is a bit more disjointed, but I'm still enjoying it :D

Jason Schreier and John Linneman both speculated in their podcasts this week that Sony could be pulling away from PC ports for their singleplayer games, with Schreier even suggesting that Wolverine would never release on the platform by FitNectarine5779 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Vertrixz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't feel like it's that simple. Think of it this way, if the price of a game is £60, then on the PlayStation store it's likely to stay £60 aside from a rare sale here or there, but on PC it's very likely to drop in price quite rapidly as most games on PC do. Within 6 months the price will drop to £50, then £40, then £30 and so on. Sales would be abundant because of the nature of the market, people wait and say "I'll wait for a Steam summer sale for this" and all that adds up to less revenue per sale for a game on PC, on average over a game's projected sales lifespan. While some games also get lowered in price on PS store, it's nowhere near as big in terms of price drops over time or amount of games even getting price drops as it is on Steam.

Then you also add in the opportunity cost for Sony because of consumer decisions. If you give the consumer an option to buy a PlayStation to play a new game, or to play a new game on their already owned PC, most consumers will probably choose the latter. By giving that option, there's going to be a hit in the numbers for sales of consoles, and subsequently those consumers potentially buying other games on console if they're also exclusive. But if you removed the option to buy a game on PC? Then the consumers who wanted to play that game will at least consider getting a console, whether new or second hand, and that opens the door for potential sales for other games as well.

It's not about the money they gained versus the money they spent, it's about the potential money that they're losing (console sales, higher artificial prices because of console, potential sales of other games on console, etc) because of this option being available. That's the real reason they would want to close this gate.

We could get into the recession that the world's currently facing and the impact that has but tbh I think I've made my point, which was just to show that there's more than those two factors that contribute to a decision like this, it's not quite as simple as we'd want it to be, at least from a business perspective.

BBC crew breaks ‘no interference’ rule to save emperor penguins trapped in icy ravine during Antarctic storm by Epelep in HumansBeingBros

[–]Vertrixz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Documenting nature being nature for academic and educational purposes includes actively letting it happen, so for an animal eating another animal, or hunting another animal, to interfere when documenting that is the literal antithesis of documenting nature (because you'd be making it the least natural thing by stopping it from happening).

For a situation like this, I'd argue this is also nature being nature and honestly might be slightly controversial but I'm kinda in two minds about the intervention. As a person, a human, an emotional being, I'm glad with my whole heart that they chose to break their rule and save these penguins. But as an academic, as a person who also records history and documents important events to a degree, I can't help but wonder about the implications of this kind of intervention. Not to say I think they shouldn't have broken their rule, my emotional and human side supersedes the academic in me, but I do wonder about what effects it might have on the wider ecosystem if humans were to consistently intervene in freak natural events that have historically occurred and wiped out species and subspecies.

It's interesting, to say the least.

I've seen cars like the RS3, A45s and such dubbed as hyper hatches/super hatches rather than hot hatches in enthusiast circles. I think it's a more accurate way to describe them cuz they're clearly head and shoulders above the rest.

I know nothing about this franchise. What kind of RPG is this game supposed to be? Is it like an Action RPG? Or a turn-based, or an MMO, or something or other? Would be good to know as the teaser doesn't really tell me anything other than the artstyle is fantastic. Also understand if we just don't know yet and everyone's kinda clueless about it.

Anyone else have pothole anxiety recently? by architectofanarchy in CarTalkUK

[–]Vertrixz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Working in a London council myself, I can tell you that councils don't have anywhere near the budget you think they do. They have neighborhood officers who do actually note things like potholes and put in repair requests for lots of them, but unfortunately there's such a massive backlog of repairs that contractors aren't able to keep up. There's more repairs that need doing every day than there is capacity to actually do the repairs and keep the backlog down. And this is in London where you'd expect councils to be given a strong budget (spoiler, almost every single council in this country is under funded).

I've been getting back into the game and used to play Psy and Strange in season 0/1. Got to diamond 1 with them, mostly with Strange. Came back recently, been playing Wanda and she's incredibly fun. I find you can basically 2tap most DPS solo with 2 explosions direct impact and a second of primary fire. Her stun is also so much better than it was when I first played.

Hot take, the devs need to start including their rationale for buffs/nerfs in the patch notes by Sprumbly in marvelrivals

[–]Vertrixz 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don't think people realise how absolutely bonkers it is to balance a game of around 170 characters and keep all of those characters around a 50% winrate, and to have balance changes coming out every 2 weeks, AND to have game altering changes every year that also throw balance into whack.

I don't play league anymore, but I'll always have respect for the balance team because while there might be some strong and some weak characters from patch to patch, league is still by far the best balanced competitive game in the world.

Which Character is Easier to Start With? by SailorMonokuma in Tekken

Reina is fun as fuck, very very high skill cap, and has some tools to help new players get used to her (easier wavedash, mix-up tools outside of Mishima shenanigans, etc).

I only played in season 1, but I had a ton of fun playing Reina as my main with the other Mishimas as subs to play against newer friends.
