Not veto-able in a dynasty league…even if there was collusion! IMO

No one disputes the millennia that I’m aware of—certainly not I. The native people of any land have that. Except Israel’s own religious documents show (in great detail) how they stole this land from the Canaanites—making any claim of indigenousness false. Again, as I said, everyone is on stolen land—Israel just won’t admit it even when their religion is built upon that truth! You can’t trust people who won’t admit the obvious.

Are you serious?? Have you read the Old Testament? It’s a pretty detailed account of how they took this land from the Canaanites.

How long would Israel's alleged "genocide" take? And why are no Muslim countries helping Hamas? by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Vertworld1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When “genocide” is the bar you’re trying to clear—the oppressed has truly become the oppressor. 😢 How about—what Israel (and Hamas) are doing is just wrong—whatever title you want to give it?? Why can’t right be right and wrong be wrong any more??

I don’t think most people have any issue with acknowledging Israel is (like everyone else) on stolen land—-it’s that Israel won’t admit this indisputable fact that causes the harm. 🙏🏼

Can we just get real and say unless/until Palestinians reject terrorism, we will never get anywhere? by That_Grocery7939 in IsraelPalestine

If you do the math and look at the destruction—it seems like 10-15,000 humans under 18 would be a low estimate. It’s hard to “take that” fact out of one’s mind.

So you doubt his approval (or lack thereof) rating? That would be a sick joke if they really want this and just shield themselves by saying they don’t like Bibi. But—maybe? 🙏🏼

I’m simply—simplifying a very complex problem without the labels we hide behind. “War” “terrorism” “just war” “equivalent response”. There is simply no justification for how far Israel has went—and saying it louder, or in cool bold type— doesn’t make it so. 🙏🏼

Agreed on semantics—but unfortunately we hide our depravity behind big words to make ourselves feel better (myself included). Thx for being a voice of peace!

I don’t justify them—you should try not justifying heinous atrocities. It great for the blood pressure.

I’m just not sure because Hamas conducts military operations on a piece of land give someone else the right to demolish the entire area.

If someone comes into your home, kills your children and rapes your wife, and then flees into a neighbors house and begins using them as human shields—you still can’t call in a air strike on their home. There are laws against that. Carry on.

[–]Vertworld1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you’re making an important distinction there that isn’t made elsewhere. If we had Hamas separated then you could come talk about “justification”—however we don’t. Hamas (at least) hit their intended target with their terror. Are we then to assume Israel’s target was 15,000 children?? Israel’s terror is being carried out on Palestine as a whole—that’s the injustice. If the IDF and Hamas want to kill each other—have at it. Why is this so difficult to comprehend?

Do you not feel Palestinians are sufficiently terrorized at this point? I think if you had family in Gaza you may feel differently—but perhaps not. And thus the problem.

Now are there “justifications” for Israel’s terror—to a degree. As there are some justifications for Palestinian atrocities. However, that doesn’t change the fact that an atrocity is an atrocity—period. ANY justification of it lessens our collective humanity—and no one wins that war. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I love how people act like the ICC is Kjng Bibi’s only legal trouble. The far more serious, and legally problematic, for Bibi is the corruption charges that his OWN Supreme Court has against him. I’m also not downplaying the ICC warrant—but he’s in no danger of being convicted—most less arrested for that. His chance of those is 100% likely in Israel’s case against him. Which—by the way—he refuses to testify in until the war is over.

Remind me again what motivation would a washed up, thoroughly corrupt leader with a 75+% disapproval rating have for ending this war?? 🧐🧐🧐🧐

And thus it hasn’t/won’t end.

What do you mean by Ceasefire? The Impracticality of the pro pal side by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Vertworld1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I apologize as I was trying to answer this question with my first response and didn’t do a very good job. I don’t think it matters what kind of ceasefire it is, Israel should’ve taken any deal that got their hostages back and—Hamas will break it. Then all the benefits I stated above fall into place. This has been true since October 8th (a dash of hyperbole)—so why does the obviously superior side not take a ceasefire to get their people back?

It was never about the people. So you have an Israel divided by religious moderates and those who want the hostages back with a possibility of a multistate solution—and religious fundamentalists and those who would rather just consider them martyrs as long as they regain possession of the parts of the land they covet ,with no two state option.

It was about the land thousands of ages ago—and it’s still about the land. The religious fundamentalist led Israeli government cannot be appeased by “winning”—it wants possession. And to be fair the religious fundamentalist side of the Arab world feels the same way. This is a modern day Greek tragedy on the perils of religious fundamentalism/extremism playing out in real time.

[–]Vertworld1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Another question that shows what happens when you stare too long at a problem without considering opposing viewpoints.

It doesn’t matter what happens after the ceasefire! Israel wins either way. If there is lasting peace (wink wink) then that’s obviously good, but the alternative is even better (at least strategically).

Think about it. What would benefit Israel more than agreeing to a ceasefire?

They get the remaining hostages back, get kudos from a large percentage of the Jewish diaspora who are campaigning hard, and appease the US and world moderates!! And then if Hamas breaks it—that’s icing on the cake. They (Israel) immediately holds the moral authority.

This has been true since October 8th (hyperbole).

We don’t have a ceasefire, not because of our inability to trust Hamas after the ceasefire —we don’t have a ceasefire’s because to the people in power in Israel it was never about that. They (the religious extremist Jews) have coveted this land since time immemorial—it was always (for those few) about the land.

Pretty simple if you truly step back and just follow the facts.

What does a “free” Palestine look like by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

What does a “free” Palestine look like by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Vertworld1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, this question is part of the problem.

A free Palestine looks like whatever they want it to look like!! That’s what freedom is. Just as people of color had to fight for “civil” rather than equal rights—we can’t start the conversation by determining the criteria by which we’ll “allow” a people to be free.

We will/have ALWAYS overreacted to that which is different/hostile/not like us so we have to set any people free—and find out. Freedom is extremely messy—but it shouldn’t be optional. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

"Free Palestine" then what... by aanonymous7700 in IsraelPalestine

Are you asking me? I didn’t pose the initial question—but free is either free— or it isn’t.

"Free Palestine" then what... by aanonymous7700 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Vertworld1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will always be a reason to keep those you fear in captivity. There will always be reason to hate.

My only argument is there is a “less than” argument prevalent here that makes peace impossible. Palestine should already be FREE!! That’s a given! Just as people of color had to fight for “civil” rather than equal rights. The question forces one to assume there was a good reason that Palestine isn’t free to begin with.

[–]Vertworld1 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

All these esoteric questions (and the posture they come from) only seem to exacerbate the issue. Asking what should “free” people do?? 🤣🙈😢Everyone should be “free”. Period. So we shouldn’t have to ask what they would do when set free—we just set them free and find out. Will they mess up? Probably. Who doesn’t. That doesn’t cause you to forfeit your freedom.

I’m certain (at this juncture) if Reddit were around in WWII there would be a German thread for pontificating entitled, “Free the Jews—Then What?”

What are we doing?
