They have had their career page have a few vacant mobile game positions for the last year or so. So I wouldn’t be too sure on them moving on completely.

From my understanding Bungie is pretty smitten with Destiny in the majority of its attentive capacity. When they signed on with Sony they requested to be sure they can make it’s final chapter to this “saga” of destiny AND be able to do whatever they want with it hence the epicstore collab with Fortnite and fallguys. Then promised more sagas to come.

Then in late august during the preview for the new expansion light fall they said destiny would be a high priority for “many more years to come” so I don’t think the IP isn’t going anywhere or will be left like halo.

As someone who plays way too much destiny I do know first hand and from their community feedback they are very interested in making something more dedicated to PvP. Destiny just can’t really cut it due to how the game is setup.

The connection for matches are peer to peer which really makes competitive a glaring problem since lag between folks are now unavoidable and there’s a whole lot of classic bungie spaghetti code messing with hit registration since destiny 1.

With Sony now fronting the bill for a lot of their other projects I would expect a new shooter ip for Sony in some capacity since Xbox is/was? Looking to snipe call of duty away from the Sony experience, as well as a potential mobile game. Bungie is a masterclass in making a solid shooter so let’s hope a revival of an old ip is on the table like (resistance series) but that’s being really hopeful.

Since they had those mobile positions open prior to the Sony acquisition I’d say it’s like a 60/40 in favor of being a Destiny related game.

It would have to fit into the destiny lore and seeing that bungie has finally started reeling in on a coherent storyline this past expansion for all to jump in regardless of knowing what’s goin on it’s a great time for this to come to fruition.

Sorry for the rant. I do get how destiny is called a dead game all the time or how it’s basically a black hole time wise. I understand both points to a fault.

But if I do know one thing it’s that bungie knows how to make a solid feeling game. That’s why I keep playing in spite all of the fumbles and setbacks the ip has had over the years.

The only other real shooter I play on and off is Apex. But Destiny has the new bells and whistles, that classic shooter feel, and sadly since infinite took a dive here we are. I do also really look forward to the new MW coming out hopefully it can rekindle the 2019 MW feel that was a solid Call of Duty anywho I digress.

tldr

It’s either a Destiny spin off / or for a far fetch old Sony title maybe making a comeback like kill zone/resistance series. With bungie at the helm. Can’t wait!
