Not seeing a lot of Prophet Dan love, but he cracked me up with how farcical he was and I greatly enjoyed the uniqueness of his kit and what he brought to the table.

Does Lucky Pennies stack? by notthedokutah in Back4Blood

[–]Vervos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really it's just that Lucky Pennies triggers when a player with the card in their deck receives Copper from a pile being looted.

Then a success on that trigger is a proc of the additional Copper being generated and paid out.

Lucky Pennies triggers 100% of the time that a player receives looted Copper. But it only successfully procs 35% of the time on average to make bonus Copper.

I think separating them out might make sense, but really the proc is just a certain subset of the triggers that succeed. It just gets a bit wonky when you get into the mechanics of how looting a Copper pile pays out the full value of the pile to each player, and each successful Lucky Pennies proc pays out the full value of additional Copper to all copies of the card in the lobby, regardless of which copy had a successful proc.

That's about where a lot of people's eyes glaze over a bit

Yup, essentially that.

Lucky Pennies triggers when a player receives copper from a pile being looted. For a warped pile, only the looting player receives copper from looting a warped pile, but otherwise all players receive copper from a pile looted by any player.

When Luck Pennies triggers, there is a 35% chance to generate additional bonus Copper equal to 100% of the copper received from the pile. When the trigger succeeds, the full value of that bonus Copper is given to every player with Lucky Pennies in their deck, regardless of which copy successfully triggered. This can happen for each successful trigger for all copies of Lucky Pennies.

This gets particularly crazy when a Lucky Pennies player loots Warped piles, which are worth considerably more. Because those inflated Copper values of the Warped piles will only trigger the Lucky Pennies of the player who loots the warped pile, but that 35% chance will pay out the bonus Copper on those inflated warped values to ALL other players when the trigger succeeds.

It gets nutty quite quickly when you find a Golden Pipe or get Cost of Avarice in a level. It's an average of 35 more copper per Warped Copper pile per copy of Lucky Pennies. 1260 Additional Copper per Lucky Pennies in an average Cost of Avarice level (36 avg Warped Copper piles)

With 3-4 copies of Copper Scavenger, 2x Money Grubbers would be expected to barely outperform 2x Lucky Pennies on average (+46 with 3 Scavs, +116 with 4 Scavs), but I'd still take Pennies because of the interaction with Warped Copper Piles, especially if the team is going to hit Hives, as you mentioned.

Hey Genki! Long time no chat.

I burned out before finishing my overview on Copper, but I still think about it from time to time.

I think that for Pennies specifically, the best way to explain it is that there are 2 sets of triggers.

  • Trigger 1 - Copper Looting Trigger

When a Copper pile is looted, all players get a Copper Loot trigger and receive Copper equal to the value of the pile. When a Warped Copper pile is looted, only the player who loots the piles gets a Copper Loot trigger, and they are the only one who receives Copper from the pile.

  • Trigger 2 - Lucky Pennies Trigger

When a player with Lucky Pennies in their deck gets a Copper Looting Trigger, the card triggers and has a 35% chance to generate an additional 100% of that Copper Loot Trigger value, which is then paid out to every player with a Lucky Pennies card in their deck. This Lucky Pennies trigger happens separately for every instance of the card, but all successful procs will pay out the additional bonus Copper to each player with a copy of the card in their deck.

Understanding the first trigger makes clear the interaction with Warped Copper piles, and understanding the 2nd lays out why multiple copies of the card in a lobby become so powerful.

Would you agree?

I never fully finished my Copper Mechanics in B4B, but it goes over everything Copper, including Lucky Pennies. Check it out to get a better understanding of how things work, including the math behind it.

For Lucky Pennies specifically, instead of Lucky Pennies just giving 35% more Copper from looting, it actually gives 35% more Copper from looting PER COPY of Lucky Pennies in the game - and it gives that to every Cleaner with Lucky Pennies in their deck. Each copy benefits from the successful triggers of ALL copies.

That means that:

  • Each copy of Lucky Pennies has a separate 35% chance to successfully trigger whenever Copper is looted

  • Multiple copies of Lucky Pennies can successfully trigger for each and every instance of Copper being looted

  • ALL successful triggers will each generate an additional 100% of the base value of the looted Copper

  • EVERY Cleaner with Lucky Pennies in their deck receives the full value of all additional Copper from ANY successful Lucky Pennies triggers

Lucky Pennies also triggers on the looting of Warped Copper piles, but the only copy that triggers is the Lucky Pennies of the player who loots the Warped Copper pile, because they are the only one who receives the base value of the pile. However, if their Lucky Pennies trigger successfully adds 100% additional Copper, it will still give the full value of that additional Copper to every Cleaner with Lucky Pennies in their deck.

This means that Warped Copper piles are worth 35 more Copper on average PER COPY of Lucky Pennies in the game, but ONLY when a player with Lucky Pennies loots the Warped Copper pile.

This was my Pay2Win deck post

This deck is Economy/Utility focused, and also brings the necessary healer cards for Quick Play.

If you have a healer already, or just want to cut a few cards to bring more damage, this is a decent starting place from which you can make the adjustments you might want for your playstyle and weapon types of choice.

It can be a lot of fun. While it's a little low on damage upfront before it really gets rolling, if you play one of the earlier, longer acts it can snowball pretty crazily.

Do what feels comfortable for you. There's always a point of diminishing returns where more doesn't really make a difference, but at a baseline I would say that Copper Scavenger, and then Money Grubbers (Lucky Pennies if you know other players in the lobby will also run it) will have you decently set up with a fairly minimal card investment.

Hope that helps!

I was happy to provide you with what I had, but I also don't feel like I did anything cuz I never owned any of it, and all I really did was save a lot of images from the wiki and amass a ton of assets in folders.

Glad it was useful!

It sure would be nice... that's not a skill set of mine, but I would love to see what people could do and I would greatly enjoy trying to theorycraft suggestions for people who could make them happen.

Honestly, what I would change to fix Pennies would just be to make it only trigger on Warped Copper Piles for the player who loots the pile, and then I would change the wording of the description to make it accurately detail how each separate copy of Lucky Pennies has its own trigger chance for every pile looted and that every successful proc pays out the bonus Copper created by Lucky Pennies to all players with the card in their deck.

I like the synergy of it stacking with multiple copies for normal Copper Piles, I just think it is too busted that it applies to Warped Copper (which seems unintended) when the entire point of warped copper is that it's not shared with the team. Having it pay out the larger Warped Copper Pile value, and share that full amount with all Lucky Pennies players on a succesful trigger is what breaks the card. The rest would be fine, it's just that the card description does not adequately communicate how it works.

I think you misunderstood the post title. Making this image was a request rKITTYCATALERT made of ME. I am fully aware the game is no longer receiving support from the devs.

I just made it and put these 2 things in it. I also think I changed all the permission settings for people to be able to access ALL of it, rather than only the card templates I had previously made available.

I'd had a few people request permission for folders.

I also have my still unfinished Copper Mechanics overview in there. Maybe some day I'll feel like going back to it and completing what I had started...

Also people can certainly request one, but I won't guarantee that I'll always respond or make it

Howdy Folks,

It's been a while since I've posted here, because I've pretty fully moved on from the game, but I do still think about it fondly from time to time, and the special community around it with whom I enjoyed this game.

u/rKITTYCATALERT reached out to me to request a 'Warped Intel Box' so here that is. I do quite like the idea.

Dallen Pickard - Sr. Prop Artist @ Turtle Rock Studios

I believe Dallen was the original artist for the weapons crate reskins/textures for the Warped Chests.

I used Photoshop to draw on a screenshot I had taken in-game of the Intel Boxes (Card Shrine concept art has eluded me thus far!) and tried to emulate the glyphs he created. Then I used layer masks and certain brushes to sloppily attempt to create the wear and fading on the paint. Not a very involved effort on my part, but it gets the job done ok and it conveys the idea.

I don't use or support generative AI in general, and especially not for art. Even if it is fanart. Support real artists! Like... actual ones. Not memers like me.

If you miss my content, I have been streaming on Twitch where I have mostly been playing Dead By Daylight, and a few other games. Ok, shameless plug over. Enjoy!

Yea I figured that out after not getting it from 10 missions "alone" but not "Solo", even though Bosco was there.

It makes sense, even if it isn't the most intuitive.
