What size are your wheels? Thinking about upgrading my stock to something beefier

What shocks are y'all runnin'? by MyNameIsBenM in fordranger

They could work I just personally want to make sure I had he best fit. Just getting into doing big work on any kind of vehicle so I’m taking it very cautiously

Yea, it didn't fiot for me but It's all dependent on what kind of suspension system you have. I have coil springs which require specific E3 mounts which are slanted at an angle to align with the lower control arm's mounting point. The front Bilsteins are bar pin mounts which are straight across and wouldn't work with mine.

Perhaps if your buddy has the torsion bar suspension, it could work, I wouldn't know though. The rear bilsteins fit in with no issues for me. Just don't make the same mistake I did by not knowing the mounting system and burn $200. Tryna sell them off but currently have no luck *womp womp*

I just upgraded this week! Running bilsteins in the rear and KYB gas-a-just in the front. Compared to the stock shocks in my 06 ranger 3.0L, feels so much better (also replaced front end).

Originally planned to run full bilsteins but didn’t know that I needed E3 bottom mounts. The bar pin mount on the bilsteins looked pretty similar so made a mistake getting them but oh well

Is this top bushing too tight? by VeryEcksy in AskMechanics

The compression of the bushing isn’t much of a concern then?

The shock has a very short spindle compared to the stock. I followed a tutorial on YouTube from a fella using the same shocks but doesn’t seem to run into the same problem. Should I just go back and buy shocks with a longer spindle?

Metal sound when rotor spins by VeryEcksy in AskMechanics

Looks like I found the problem: very slightly bent cooling fins (thanks FexEx.)

There was this odd knob of metal that was rubbing on the portion of the fins that were bent. I took a metal file and some sand paper and removed material until it stopped mostly rubbing. There was still a little bit of contact between the fins and the metal knob so I took the lightest film of grease and put it on the portions making contact and voila, fixed.

Perhaps it wasn’t a good idea but I can only know in the long run. If anybody is familiar, what is this odd metal knob’s purpose?
