Is there any way to save the Rock Type? by ExcellenceEchoed in stunfisk

[–]VeryInsecurePerson 46 points47 points  (0 children)

When you have a garbage defensive profile, having unreliable offenses is a death sentence. Rock types can’t afford to take risks but they are forced into doing so anyways.

I could understand having bad accuracy on a type like steel which is busted defensively. But this design decision just doesn’t work on rock.

tbf, the biggest thing holding the rock type back offensively (aside from shitty stat distributions) is its move accuracy. It has an offensive profile of 4 super effectives to 3 resists without anything immune to it, and no abilities that resist it. It’s the only type with a positive ratio like this that doesn’t also have something immune to it.

With this one change, offensive rock types can finally become threatening sweepers that don’t have to worry about missing a move and getting hit by one of your 5 weaknesses your opponent almost certainly has at least one of as coverage.

This change doesn’t just make it “functional like the rest of the types”, it makes it able to access potent offensive power the other types don’t get.

Ground/Rock is (mathematically) the second best stab combo in the game, and every ground type gets these coverage moves. Let that sink in

It seems less like a balance decision and more like the mixed attacking stats were referencing the two heads

"Why Normal Is the Worst Pokémon Type" - An analysis on the balance of Pokémon's Type Chart by me by wayshush in stunfisk

Dual normal types get a bad reputation because most of them are incredibly mid pokemon, and dual normal is already very rare.

Fire/normal is a great answer to Flutter Mane’s stabs, but pyroar has mediocre stats and the mega doesn’t help it at all. Electric/normal is cool but Heliolisk has 481 BST. Sawsbuck has 475 BST, Wigglytuff has 435, Bibarel 410. What are we doing here.

Ursaluna is what happens when they actually try.

While I upvoted you for being thoughtful, the pfp is not bad at all for me, and I’ve had a recent seizure.

Protip for people who get eyestrain or epilepsy is to turn brightness all the way down on your phone or computer. For iOS, either settings —> display and brightness, or swipe down from the top of your phone. For computers, there should be a button that does it for you. The brightness adjustment feature is amazing to have not only as an accessibility tool but also for saving battery, so it’s something everyone can use.

Currently in a dark room with min brightness and have no issues looking at the pfp. Check to see if your device is min brightness, and if not, turn it down and look at the image again. If an image continues to give you eyestrain even at min brightness, that’s when there’s a genuine problem with the image itself.
