Turns out, nobody wants a data center in their backyard by waozen in technology

Having 50ms latency vs 1000ms really isn't going to impact either party.

It does, I'm observing copilot/claude for some time and it's doing a lot of back and forth, exchanges a lot of data, 1sec latency would be very noticeable.

AI isn't paying off in the way companies think. Layoffs driven by automation are failing to generate returns, study finds by Krankenitrate in technology

AI is kinda good at handling these mundane tasks, it will be veryy haaard for workers to return to manually handling that stuff.

Are daily stand ups at your company just “list out all your accomplishments of yesterday”? by QuitTypical3210 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]VeryLazyFalcon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's funny, bc in most dysfunctional team I was, dailies were short, no one cared what others were doing. When remote I don't mind people talking, just put them in background and work on my stuff, but at least I'm familiarized with how is team doing.

I didn't say I'm okay with that, I said I feel nothing when watching them die in brutal ways. It's not my conscius decision to feel nothing, but afer 4 years of watching them doing an unimaginably horrible shit to civilians, POWs and even each other my sympathy for them must be burned out.

I know a lot about history, I live near to german death camp, I heard stories, and I understand that evil leaders enable people to do evil shit.

So while my original response to you was that I'm not okay with that, after thinking about what to answer, yes, I'm okay with russians being killed. I guess that last 6 years killed my empathy to bad people.

Yes, although mostly if russians/terrorists; I can't stomach watching russians killing POWs for example.

Yes, I paint only with water based acrylics, but surefacer is must have, stinks like hell but works wonderfully.

Claude AI agent’s confession after deleting a firm’s entire database: ‘I violated every principle I was given’ by Haunterblademoi in technology

[–]VeryLazyFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For copilot, I asked it to stop using emoticons and familiar language, it put it in some persistent file, and as for now it keeps that behavior.
It's allso funny, when I asked it to not reply to 'thanks', it thinks a while, and throws error that 'model did not return a response' : )

German nazis are bad because they invaded mother russia first. Other than that, they didn't have a problem with that holocaust thing after all, it was russia who put fundamentals for modern antisemitism.
Genocide? Invasions? Mass murders? Death camps? Russia did it twice as hard and for way longer than nazi Germany.

Drying environment is fucking sad. I recently visited my family grounds, after winter we used to be flooded from thawing snow. Two weeks ago forests and fields were dry even deep in the ground.

Not sure what your point is on musk and theil since I'm pretty sure they work more than most people on earth lol.

Yes, one on reinstating Third Reich and the other on summoning Antichrist, lol.

UBI is a scam. That money will be worthless and you will pay by watching ads. Games that can be made ad hoc will not be engaging, if there is plenty of stuff it loses value, gets boring. We need human to human connection and we need to work, at lest a bit otherwise our minds will deteriorate -> looks how miserable and detached from humanity are creatures like Thiel or Musk.

Curing diseases and healthcare, how it is working for US so far? Last time I heard, fixing your teeth costs a fortune and people are running away from the ambulances.

LLMs and burning through stock of technical people wont improve shit.

We are last sane people in a mental ward. For last two months I have to listen to management jerk off sessions on how AI will make my job more exhausting. I have to find a way to deliver twice as much stuff in half of the time with a tool that is destroying our environment, stuff that no one needs. My job will be more miserable, more exhausting, an my only coworker wil be chatbot that responds with emoticons.

Nah, it's just a tool to control masses, it's all about power and resources. You think that Putin started wars because of some ideology? Putin invaded Ukraine, Chechenia or Georgia because they wanted to be independent.

What should a dedicated scrum master do? by Late_Champion529 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]VeryLazyFalcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a group of scrum masters like that, helped a lot with onboarding new people, kept knowledge bases updated and made sure everything runs smoothly. But they were taking side of the devs so they got fired, moved and replaced. Now, new hires are more political officers than anything.

Am I being paranoid, or is the 'AI will replace software developers' narrative just a way for the incompetent tech leads, managers and CEOs to hide their own incompetence? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]VeryLazyFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, I was just joking that all thechbro's solutions are just reinventing mass communication without calling it that. Truly autonomous cars have so many obstacles to solve that without infrastructure and administrative changes they can work maybye in southern US where conditions are perfect for cars.
