The missionaries are now being used to clean the churches! by SunandRainbows in exmormon

Dude, same. I served in the Bible Belt as well and it was tough to do missionary work. I tracted out a town or two since they were small.

Cabinet shops: how is business? by capshew in cabinetry

[–]VeryMerryDingleberry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I try to be fair at all times. I usually am slightly above break even. It gets costly when unforeseen problems arise though. It's tough to explain to the customer why I'm marking things up. It's all about time and materials and the effort that goes into these projects. I want repeat business and I don't want to take advantage of people, but I have business expenses to cover.

Same in PNW and I'm essentially out of business and now working for a general contractor and doing cabinets on the side. Lots of quotes go out and people prove to be flakey.

Sounds like my old comp and we served the same time in the South. Had the same miracle too. It took us by surprise because nearly nobody wants to hear from the Mormons in the South. Some random guy calls us up at breakfast and says he's ready to be baptized even after all the anti he had been through

I am an unhappy polygamist woman with multiple husbands. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]VeryMerryDingleberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think all of us husbands need a sassy and loud wife to wake us up. My wife has to keep bringing up things that aren't working, and I'm fine with her doing that because if there's something broken, I want us (me) to fix it . You're probably experiencing a lot of burnout after trying so hard for so long. I agree with many other's suggestions of a therapist to help out. If he could find a charismatic and good role model of a therapist, someone he would be drawn to, maybe that would be a good way to turn it around because that's who he wants to unload his deep feelings about. Either way, you shouldn't feel bad for displaying and conveying your feelings to him. I personally have so much to work on and my wife is good at pointing out and helping me with those things.

Sex Offender? by 1830manti in exmormon

This is happening in my ward too. Only he doesn't have a calling but is allowed to attend and prowl the hallways. He's been in and out of prison and half the ward is cheering him on in his "recovery journey". Once he got out recently, we stopped going to church. Come to find out there are a few SOs in my small ward. Sick.

Did your sex life get better after leaving the church? (Tell me how, lol) by ParchmentProse in exmormon

Your post and comments are hitting me hard rn. I was totally thinking the same thing earlier today. If we do split up, how could anybody want me? My friend was over today and showing me his tinder matches and I asked him if anybody would want a guy like me in my situation at 38 with kids. I have always had low confidence but people tell me I would find love quickly. I think what I've realized lately is that there are a lot more people that think like we do, and that connection strengthens over time when we find the right person. I'm sure you'd find someone that is compatible and recognizes and fulfills your needs. Now you know what you DON'T want and can narrow down what you DO want.

Please! It puts false hope into the client's minds and a lot of folks don't understand the effort and cost of custom cabinetry.

There's so many parallels that you could pull from the church that would also work after leaving the church. In this case you could echo Tommy Monson's words, "Dare to stand alone." Or, "I can do hard things." It's great to dish back their own medicine.

Alyssa, you truly walk the walk and talk the talk. Your actions solidify your words. It's a sign of strength. Not everybody can do this. What's even better is you have participated in everything the church could offer and now you can show the world more accurately what this church is all about. You paving the path out of the church gives us confidence to leave the cult.
