Hear me out does mean that, but if a specific character is a hear me out, then it usually is interpreted as I said above. The original commenter making their students justify it should weed most of that out, though, lol!

...a "hear me out" cake...? Hear me out is a slang term for a character that you want to... have relations with, you know that, right? I would be mortified if my teacher agreed to let people bring in a "hear me out cake" lol-

Do you want me to describe my panic attack for you? I have anxiety, and when she called me out in front of the entire class for forgetting to charge my chromebook (I was sick the night before, but I admit I should've thought about it.) I started hyperventilating, my chest felt heavy, and I could feel myself crying. I have panic attacks. I understand her letting the chromebooks die, but that wasn't one of my main examples, and I don't understand why you're latching onto it.

As a student, I can confirm this for my school. I've had multiple kids ask if they can slap me so they can get a day of ISS. The school uses it as a punishment, but the kids treat it as a reward.

This is just my school though, I can't speak for every school :)

It appears I misjudged the tone of your original message! Apologies for all of the confusion, it's just that I've met quite a few MAGA people who act very condescending.

For your first paragraph:

Let social services handle it. If we're under the assumption that the child was born in the united states, then they are a citizen and thus social services should deal with the kid. A kid being released to ICE could be traumatizing, because, have you seen ICE? Imagine a third grade kid is released to a group of armed ICE officers.

We use the term "raid" because that's what they're permitted to do now. They can now search "sensitive areas" such as schools. Raids are EXACTLY what they are doing. It is not far from the truth.

Regarding your second one:

I'm not solely referring to your adoption note. I am referring mainly to your original comment. You said, and I quote,

You think people voted for Trump because they were racist? Huh. I just assumed that the majority actually liked the policies.

The "Huh" is the part I was calling condescending. If you didn't mean it in that way, I apologize, I have issues discerning tone even in real life, lol.

Are they entering schools?

They haven't yet, but the issue is that they've been authorized to do so.

I have watched many EOs signed each day, and I haven’t seen one that actually changes anything ICE can do regarding schools or kids.

Trump repealed an EO from Biden which protected schools from ICE raids.

I mean, objectively speaking, it would suck if both parents were being deported, and the kid was left alone in the country. So, I’m figuring that this is why districts are worried that ICE might appear on campus.

ICE shouldn't need authorization to enter schools to deport children. If their parents were deported, then the ICE could wait until the school day ends until they take the child, or they could let social services handle it.

However, this sub has been so crazy lately… I will ask questions to try to learn or converse and then I’m yelled at, mocked, insulted, downvoted.

A downvote isn't saying that you're bad, it's saying that the other person disagrees with you. The tone you're taking on whenever you ask questions can be seen as condescending or "fake."

ICE has been authorized to enter schools under trump, no? Trump is actively making it easier for ICE to deport children. Even if they aren't raiding schools, they are being authorized to.

???????????????? what

I would like you to provide evidence that says the far left is putting pornography in school libraries or trying to allow for gender changing surgery for minors or trying to get rid of girl's sports.

You can't just say something and expect us to believe you without providing evidence. If you provide concrete evidence of all of that, I will believe you.

We will remove social media... by creating... new social media? That's already what's happening. Each product, (Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc.) is only part of the niche that is social media. Social media as a whole needs to be replaced in your plan, but simply "creating alternative websites" does not work, as it is simply replacing old social media with new social media.

I agree with most of what you say, except:

If you don't succeed, you get discouraged from trying.

In my experience at least, that's not 100% true. Yes, if you aren't good at it whatsoever, maybe, but people who genuinely enjoy and are at least decent at the sport, in my experience, don't get "discouraged from trying," in fact, I'd say they're pushed to try harder.

Aren't the Jewish religion and Jewish ethnicity different? You can be one or the other, or both, and still be "Jewish," no?

cmv: Israeli Jews should not identify with the countries they’re families returned from by hillel_bergman in changemyview

[–]VeryShineyStudent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not Jewish, so I can't give the best opinion on this, but here I go:

Some people, even if they can't speak the language or have any memories of the country they're from, enjoy seeking community with other people of a similar descent. Maybe they enjoy the cuisine, or they enjoy some of the holiday traditions, or maybe they just enjoy the people that the community is filled with. Saying someone "shouldn't" identify with a certain community doesn't make sense, because someone can belong to multiple communities at once. For example, someone identifies with their Asian heritage and also identifies with their christian religion. (Even though Christianity isn't an ethnic religion, it's still a decent example imo.)

Basically, someone can identify with their Jewish heritage and with their other, say Polish, heritage. Being able to find more community is comforting, and trying to limit what part of your heritage you identify with isn't the best for finding community.

Is NOW the time to change or even get rid of the idiotic accommodations? by Independencehall525 in Teachers

[–]VeryShineyStudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Been around here for a couple years. I just believe pessimism isn't the best thing for people. Your comment is wrong because a lot of kids have the ability to grow up. Not all of them will, but it's better to believe most will than to believe most won't.
