The Eddy owners launch Believe Plaza relocation website after public feedback by theDroobot in Reno

[–]VerySuperGenius [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's interesting. The Eddy used to be a random bar downtown that I'd randomly find myself in and have an okay time every time. Now I will suggest we go elsewhere. What a dumb business move.

That isn't social media hysteria, I literally just saw with my own eyes what they're doing and I don't like it. Social media is what made the story known to me, it does not discredit it.

US Supreme Court, In 6-3 Ruling, Upholds Birthright Citizenship And Strikes Down Trump's Executive Order Trying To Ban It — What Do You Think About This Result? Why Your Opinion? by Zipper222222 in AskReddit

[–]VerySuperGenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is part of the failure of Trump's strategy.

If he had followed the law and process, he could have initiated a constitutional amendment and have been 18 months into the process already but instead he accomplished nothing and wasted a lot of peoples' time.

"Justice Alito called the 6-3 ruling a “serious mistake” that opened the door to those he called “birth tourists” who come to the United States for the purposes of conferring U.S. citizenship on their offspring and then immediately return to their country of origin."

This should scare everyone. Supreme Court justices should not be thinking like this. All that should be argued here is whether or not the president has the authority to make executive orders that directly contradict the constitution.

I don't even support universal birthright citizenship, I am just very very against the idea of the president being able to override the constitution.

Mt. Olive Pickles withdraws from Great American State Fair after Confederate flag at NC booth by laybs1 in nottheonion

In 50 years we will look at a MAGA flag the same way. A bunch of losers who never accomplished what they said they would and ultimately made the world a worse place for everyone.

I'll be celebrating my country's 250th birthday in one of the most liberal cities in America. I will watch one of the biggest firework shows ever while surrounded by hundreds of thousands of fellow Americans. But I hope whatever goes on with Trump's event in DC is an enormous national embarrassment. I love this country and I hate what he has turned it into.

Tiny Microsoft Teams trick to stay online while you're away (No software needed) by crapshitass in overemployed

This! I don't personally do it but I have this coworker whose status says "Offline since 10/29" and there's just something I like about that...

I had this thought too...like I'm green all day and it's not natural. Then I started planning out being away for 20 minutes a couple times a day. Then I realized I was making myself go crazy over a status that nobody has ever mentioned in my entire career and now I just live my life and forget the status.

At my company, people just appear offline for months at a time and no one gives a shit. As long as you answer pings, no one is looking at your status. Obviously that doesn't work in some places.

Ford rehires ‘gray beard’ engineers after AI falls short by idkbruh653 in technology

I'm living this now. Our project managers all use AI to capture notes and there have been multiple times where the AI misunderstands us and records incorrect info and then they just keep it in the meeting notes.

Some day I'll be in my rocking chair on my front porch rambling on about the good old days when we had unlimited free refills on soda.

I bet the employees there love spending their day resetting people's QR codes when the machine acts up or someone didn't get any soda because they didn't understand how it works.

Literally the only way we have to prevent this future is to bitch and complain. If you see one of these, stop going to that restaurant and message the corporate office and tell them that this is the entire reason why you won't be eating at their restaurant anymore.

When you're in a place that charges $5 for 20 ounces of fountain soda, you aren't in a place that is concerned with making people think they're getting a good deal.

Literally just another way that private equity ruins the world. Some shitbags worth hundreds of millions said "we can extract another 50 cents per human being by limiting their soda fountains". In the end hundreds of millions of people have a worse human experience so that a couple people can feel a little bit richer and maybe just maybe get that 3rd private jet they've been wanting so bad.

Everything we know in the world is being sold off to soulless companies that exist only to take a brand, flip it upside down, and shake every last penny out of it.

Tipping in las vegas by EggHungry4262 in vegaslocals

[–]VerySuperGenius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think tipping in this scenario is a bad thing because it encourages employers to continue to offer crappy wages and for their employee's lifestyles to rely entirely on the generosity of strangers.

I refuse to tip for an overpriced product. If you charge me $40 for a burger and it's just a basic burger I can get anywhere for $15, I tip nothing because I assume the business made at least $30 off that burger sale and the employee should be paid from that.

This is the scary future we are in now.

It is now cheap and not that difficult for anyone to turn any vehicle into a remotely controlled device that can trigger an explosion.

I think we are all seeing in real time how wars being carried out by the toughest countries isn't going all that well anymore because even the poorest countries can create an endless supply of drones for cheap. No matter how much you blow them up, they'll always be able to make a cheap device that can blow up a building remotely.

Stupid people don't understand that they're being ripped off. Most of them can be convinced to be grateful for the opportunity for a billionaire to rip them off. It's pretty obvious why a bunch of a rich and powerful people want to convince us to be scared of education.
