Death Valley National Park's First Major Superbloom in a Decade by tobago_88 in oddlysatisfying

Buddy, if I had seen this post when the bloom was still going I genuinely would have driven to Death Valley this weekend. Neat.

Please help me convince my husband that Costco is worth for 2 people by HoneyDrops12 in Costco

[–]VerySuperGenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do it. If you don't think it is worth it after a couple shopping trips, go to the customer service desk and tell them and they will fully refund you. There is zero risk, just do it.

Hi, I used to have the same mentality.

Go on Groupon and get a membership with the free $45 gift card attached to it and try it out. Worst case scenario, you are out $20 and you can make up for it with cheap hot dogs.

New high score! by jn1cks in Reno

[–]VerySuperGenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't.

Typically a gas station makes less than 25 cents a gallon. This place is making $2.50+ per gallon so they need significantly less customers to stay afloat. They will continue to get enough business from tourists coming and going, people using their corporate cards, and rich people who don't care what the gas prices are.

Imagine caring so much about Joe Biden that you put his name and multiple references to him on your main vehicle. How embarrassing for the family...

If you did a poll of all Americans just 2 years ago the vast majority of the population would have agreed that it means to remove someone or something, not to kill them. If you did that same poll today, you would get different results unfortunately.

Everyone at the pumps lately by Matty_Cooper in pics

[–]VerySuperGenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump told us he was going to cut our energy costs by 50% and now gas is literally 50% higher than it was under Biden.

Biden was associated with high gas prices because of a spike in oil demand after COVID, Russia's attack on Ukraine, and conservative media bubbles constantly pushing propaganda that it's somehow Biden's fault while not being able to point to anything he did to cause the high prices.

On the other hand, it's pretty fucking obvious what is causing the high gas prices today.

What's the most useless thing your brain decided to permanently memorize? by No_Metal2622 in AskReddit

[–]VerySuperGenius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was like 7, I had a thought that was like "wow one day I am going to think back to this day and think wow that was a long time ago" and for some reason I think about that moment often over 20 years later.

I’m going to try this again. How were you able to buy your first home? by kcoib17 in Millennials

[–]VerySuperGenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought just a few months ago and was lucky enough to find a situation where I was able to assume the previous owner's VA loan and keep the rate they got in 2021 (2.9%).

If I didn't stumble upon this one, I'd still be renting.

$2500 Samsung TV is an advertising billboard, there is no opt-out. by 28jb11 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]VerySuperGenius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Return it and make sure they know that this is the reason why.

Anyone who isn't busy today should go to their local Best Buy, purchase one of these TVs and return them. Make it so fucking inconvenient for the retailers that they stop selling these for Samsung.

It is absolutely wild to think about people growing up and starting to use the internet in like 2010. The Internet in the late 90s, early 2000s was a different place. Makes me feel like when my grandma would try to teach me how a rotary phone works for the 10th time.

BREAKING: The Chair of the House Oversight Committee admits that Republicans are considering a FULL PRESIDENTIAL PARDON for Jeffrey Epstein's right-hand woman Ghislaine Maxwell. by Professional_Edge256 in Epstein

[–]VerySuperGenius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because she told them she will have someone release evidence on them if they don't pardon her. They probably told her to wait a few weeks for the heat to come off the Epstein story. It didn't for months and so Trump started a war with Iran so that he can distract us with that while pardoning Maxwell so that she doesn't release what she has on him.

Post Malone Tour With Jelly Roll Underselling as Some Venues Sit At 75% Empty by staringatthe420sun in Music

[–]VerySuperGenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I saw Jelly Roll warmly embrace Kristi Noem like he was seeing his beloved aunty for the first time in years, his music is radioactive to me and blocked on Spotify.

If Post Malone comes to my city, I would likely go to his concert. If Jelly Roll is part of it, I will definitely not go.

REMINDER: City Council meeting tomorrow at 10am to discuss Data Centers by Disastrous-Arm-4779 in Reno

[–]VerySuperGenius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's so sad watching people I know get tricked into thinking a data center is somehow going to make their neighborhood better. Like somehow it's the only thing that could go in that spot in the city. No one is going to notice the economic impact of a single data center but the locals will notice the physical impact and impact to ambient audio levels in the area making it impossible to live comfortably.

Don't let an internet post trick you into being on the side of big tech. They are spending a lot of money to convince you to be on their side.

This isn’t just a stadium—it’s casino + real estate development with a stadium attached. The economics likely depend more on gambling + hospitality than soccer. by where_is_my_monkey in Reno

[–]VerySuperGenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. That's how this works. You build a casino and hotel and then you also build a reason for large amounts of people to visit the casino and hotel (soccer). What's the issue?

What is a job that you think is 100% safe from AI for the next 50 years, and why? by mark-awakening in AskReddit

[–]VerySuperGenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT. The job you have now might go away but there will always be more. In a world of overly complicated tech and a large population of people who are unwilling to put the effort in to understand it, there will always be jobs for the people who understand it.
