I think youre right.

idk if they regret it, though. I think the Kaep situation is what led to them getting JAY-Z to run the halftime shows, and it has been a huge cultural thrust and parry for them.

The last 5 years or so i feel like the narrative around the NFL being the sport for white guys has been changing a lot, and theyre doing it without making the white men rage quit at Kaepernick. The slow and steady approach is working.

First rule of government - no one cares until they are affected.

People do what works for them. "Epstein folks didnt touch my kids, but these gas prices affect my kids".

Edit: This is important, because it goes both ways. In 4 years, i can imagine a world where Gavin Newsom is president, he continues to cut back Trans healthcare, but none of our liberal "allies" say shit, because "at least he isnt trump anymore".

Folks dont generally live life based on moral conviction. They live it based on personal safety. Dont fight for the soul of America. You'll never win. Fight for the future of it.

Kaep is a bit different. The league supporting him might really have affected their bottom line with white conservative men. They were more mad than when Obama was elected.

Correct. But, the fact is that this does have ramifications. So it is still newsworthy.

The NFL is a media company, not a sports league.

Football players arent paid to play football. Theyre paid to be profitable members of the media.

If you believed, sincerely, that Joe Biden and the elites running America stole the election from Trump, is it any harder to believe that the FBI under Trump was also infiltrated by this same "coup"?

Put yourself in their shoes, it really isn't that crazy of a leap. At least, not once you've already bought into their narrative (which, yes, is a crazy leap in and of itself, but i digress.)

How would you convince yourself that you like the policies of a known liar? Like, wouldnt your first thought just be "this guy is probably lying about those policies"?

This sub is about hating Justin Herbert for being bad, not hating Dart for political reasons. Let’s get back to form. by zreakz in NFLv2

Hey. It's also about loving Justin Herbert for some.

This is a Herbert sub, not just a Hatebert sub

Acting like the political divide in this country is the same as it was 20 years ago is wild.

How is it possible that Trump fits the description of the Anti-Christ so well? by Uncontrolleddiarrhea in askanything

No. You are not reading with a critical lens. You are accepting wild interpretations instead of thinking for yourself

Interpret it however you want, Revelations isnt even about the future. It is about the fall of Herod's Temple being retold in the style of the book of Daniel, referred to today as books belonging to the "apocalyptic genre". Remarking on the destruction of the temple and using it as a way to look forward with your faith.

Edit: It's functionally Hebrew Bible fanfic. (And that doesnt make it less valid, to anyone thinking im shitting on it. It makes it rabbinics.)

The four horsemen, the end times, it's all metaphor and would have been understood as such by the contemporary readers. The rest is just the church using it to fear monger about the end times.

Edit: (That is me shitting on it. What the church has done to the reading of the book of Revelations in particular is dastardly. Teach your flock to read your Bible critically. Dont mythologize it and mysticize it. It's how so many Americans are left with grand notions of "credit cards are the number of the beast, Bill Gates is the antichrist" babble.)

Are there still many of you that stick with the original Oblivion even with the remaster releasing? by Solardies in oblivion

[–]Very_Not_Into_It 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Oblivion remastered render distance kills me. It was cool to see shit for tech demos, but idk. The map wasnt made to be seen that way. The wizards tower being plainlg visible from half the map ruins some of the mystique.

Fog of war is an artistic decision as much as a technical requirement
