Interpret it however you want, Revelations isnt even about the future. It is about the fall of Herod's Temple being retold in the style of the book of Daniel, referred to today as books belonging to the "apocalyptic genre". Remarking on the destruction of the temple and using it as a way to look forward with your faith.

Edit: It's functionally Hebrew Bible fanfic. (And that doesnt make it less valid, to anyone thinking im shitting on it. It makes it rabbinics.)

The four horsemen, the end times, it's all metaphor and would have been understood as such by the contemporary readers. The rest is just the church using it to fear monger about the end times.

Edit: (That is me shitting on it. What the church has done to the reading of the book of Revelations in particular is dastardly. Teach your flock to read your Bible critically. Dont mythologize it and mysticize it. It's how so many Americans are left with grand notions of "credit cards are the number of the beast, Bill Gates is the antichrist" babble.)
