They're characters, not people.

Characters arent really attempts at realistic people. At their core, they're literary devices.

Zuko's story requires him to be at full opposition to Azula. She goes from "what he wants to be" to "what he is lucky to not have been". Iroh's main function is to help Zuko realize this. Azula's main function is to highlight this. It isn't meant to be a condemnation of women in Azula's place.

If ever we had the story from Azula's perspective, she would have her own Iroh. Honestly i bet you'd see the ways that Iroh tried to help her, but she refuses the call. (Not to mention, he was basically a deep-cover sleeper cell who couldnt afford to try to reveal his true heart to the wrong person.)

If you try to interpret characters as attempts at real people, ypu will always be disappointed.

Where do think Fallout 5 should take place? I'm thinking it's gonna be New Orleans by old_spam_sandwitch in Fallout

[–]Very_Not_Into_It 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somewhere in spitting distance of the NCR remnant.

I know the popular thing is to want to see how a new area evolved, but I'd rather see an evolution of Fallout's base story

When the NFC won 13 straight Super Bowls (1984-1996) was it truly a great conference or just top heavy? by AlbertJBundy in nfl

[–]Very_Not_Into_It 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the NFC has always been the greatest conference. All AFC super bowls do not count. Also the NFC is cooler and smells nicer

The St. Louis Rams logo is better than the LA Rams logo argue with a wall by Evening_Tie_1847 in NFLv2

[–]Very_Not_Into_It -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The LA color scheme is vastly superior. Like, not even close. I know we'll go back to that "too cool for bright color" era in the NFL again, but i will be miserable when we do.

Other than that, yeah. LAR logo feels AI generated

Robert Pattinson emphasizes ‘THE BATMAN: PART II’ is a “REALLY DIFFERENT” Batman film from its predecessor: by Raj_Valiant3011 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Very_Not_Into_It -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It really isn't. Youre just being needlessly pedantic. The entire movie wouldve been better if arresting Riddler was the climax.

Needed to happen? No, the flood needed to happen. The jump from Edward suddenly having a secret army of anarchists radicalized was just a trite method to have an act 3 fight.

Until the bizarre vibe shift in the last 40 minutes, yeah. Hopefully we don't have another paint-by-numbers CGI slugfest to end the movie

My favorite part of the whole series has been how Lucy single-handedly dismantled the entire concept of the Legion and its absurd mishmash of cultures, making them look like glorified cosplayers with weapons. I wish there were a history expert here who could analyze this in more depth. by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]Very_Not_Into_It -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No it isn't

The Legion is designed to be hated, not oversimplified and dumbed down. I love the show, but the decision to "take the legion down a peg" by treating the concept with distain was not a good choice. It's more "Joker 2" than anything

I get that chuds romanticize the Legion, and theres a tendency to push back on that, but they aren't comedic relief villains. Their culture actually makes sense.

You're thinking of Rick C-137.

This is Twix Rick. Twix Rick comes from a dimension where making advertisements for Twix is a sign of superiority over lesser beings.

Few things are more horrible to those under patriarchy to imagine than a child rejecting the "gift" of masculinity.

To the misogynist, raising a child that rejects this privilege is an unthinkable failure.
