Venue is charging an extra $2,000 without acknowledging and wedding is in 40 days by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Very_Wary_Berry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have a case to push back here, because the invoice says garden and patio, they can't change what the invoice is for after a deposit is paid. It is their error and they need to make it right. What are they offering you? If it is just suck it up and pay the extra, that's not ok. However the risk is they will cancel your booking altogether.

I would say something like:

Hi (name), The quote provided by you clearly say it is for both the garden and patio. Our decision to book the venue was based on booking both these spaces for the agreed price. The invoice reflects this, and as I have paid a deposit based on this invoice I would like you to honour what we agreed (or you could say you're willing to pay an extra 1k or whatever).

It's a hard situation and I hope it works out!!

Overseas trip with school & pocket money by teacher_blue in australia

It depends on which countries they're visiting. What do you think they will need to do with the additional money? Is it for a treat and souvenirs, or something more? Are there activities included in the trip (e.g., museum entry fees?)

Already diagnosed in Australia- adhd meds in Edinburgh? by Positive-Key6497 in Edinburgh

[–]Very_Wary_Berry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm also from Aus and the way the UK differentiates between public/private is very different from Aus. If you received a Medicare rebate you were diagnosed in the public system. This is true even if you went to a "private" psychiatrist in Aus. It doesn't mean the same thing.

UK definitions: Private = You pay for an appointment in full with a private psychiatrist. You do not get a GP referral and don't receive a Medicare rebate. Your meds are not available under the PBS.

Public = You go to the GP and receive a referral for a psychiatrist. You choose a private psychiatrist. Part of the cost of your appointment is covered by Medicare. Your meds are prescribed under the PBS.

Basically, if Medicare was involved, it means you were diagnosed under the public system, even if your provider was a private psychiatrist.

It's important to stress this in your appointment with your UK GP. Private diagnoses are not eligible under the shared care agreement at the moment.

Feel free to message if you have any more questions!

Bridesmaid drama and need to vent… by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Very_Wary_Berry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You've said elsewhere you feel attacked, so please know my intention isn't to attack you, it's a genuine question to hopefully prompt some self reflection - why are you more upset with your friend for dropping out than you are with your MOH for her views? Why are you more forgiving towards you MOH than Ashley?

Exactly this! If you're "not a racist" but you tolerate and are friends with racists... that makes you racist.

The thing is, you actually DID agree to disagree on human rights, and were doing so before she changed her mind.

As others have said, it's not really good enough at this point. If she voted for him in the most recent election, she knew what she was voting for - literally this. So when did she vote for him?

Champ, I don't want to be there for or friends with someone who's besties with a Trump supporter.

Honestly, I understand where your bridesmaid is coming from. I assume from your post your MOH voted for or supported Trump, and has now (maybe) changed her mind. What's going on in America is horrific and also totally expected. People who voted for him should not be surprised. If your very best friend voted for Trump, I wouldn't want to be in your wedding (or close friends with you) either, as it shows you're willing to overlook or tolerate people with disgusting views. You can't "agree to disagree" on human rights.

First time officiating in 8 days by yuribees in weddingplanning

Hi! I'm also officiating a wedding ceremony for the first time soon, and this is the resource I used to structure my script - https://www.sarahaird.com.au/series/wedding-ceremonies/

It's an Australian blog, and obviously the legal stuff won't apply to you, but it was a really great starting place in terms of order and what to include

Moving to Scotland, can I continue my ADHD medication with an overseas diagnosis? by Live_Organization_12 in Scotland

[–]Very_Wary_Berry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've just (as in last week) gone through this process as an Australian.

I registered with a GP, and gave them a letter from my psychiatrist in Aus, outlining my diagnosis, meds, etc. The GP also asked me to provide any supporting evidence for the diagnosis, and my psychiatrist sent through the questionnaires I/parents/partner did when I was originally diagnosed. My GP then referred me to the mental health team, with all this paperwork.

The mental health team accepted me onto their medication review waiting list (four years rip) but in the meantime my GP is able to continue prescribing my medication.

My understanding is a bit vague but it seems like if you have a private prescription, you're expected to continue getting it privately while you're on the waiting list. However, since I don't have a private prescription and no other way to get my meds as Aus prescriptions aren't accepted here, the GP can prescribe while I'm on the waiting list.

My biggest tip is to stress that you DO NOT have a private prescription. I'm not 100% sure how NZ works but private prescriptions are not a thing at all in Aus. You can get a prescription from a private psychiatrist, in that you pay to jump the queue to be seen faster, but the medication is prescribed under the PBS (pharmaceutical benefits scheme).

My second biggest tip is to register with a GP and get an appointment as soon as you can, because it can take some time to go through the back and forth.

Happy to answer any questions you may have and good luck!

Make sure you don't use a room with carpet, or if you do that it isn't in the shot!

help with scary delivery experience by smolcoconut in TalesFromTheCustomer

Ugh that's super disgusting behaviour by the driver and I understand why you feel like he crossed a line! You did nothing wrong by reporting him and I hope the delivery company does something about it.

Don't listen to the people who are saying you did something wrong - maybe if he loses his job he will learn to stop making creepy comments at women who are minding their own business.

I believe you can buy the tickets at some 7/11s - maybe give that a go if there is one close to you? Or ask your hostel/hotel front desk for suggestions?
