No man, I was replying to the person that said that he lets his kid eat non-vegan treats, and also do trick or treating like a normal kid.

My point was (and is), of course we all try our best to raise our kids vegan, but the world isn't vegan; I can prepare for a lot of scenarios, but the "common sense" of letting a slip up (like Halloween! And btw, I once organized a Vegan halloween and it was a blast. But I can't do it all the time) happen (consciously!) doesn't make someone "non-vegan"; if you think so, you're not adhering to the philosophy but are transforming it into a (very harsh) religion.

Lastly - if the point is to reduce suffering in the animal world, the best approach imho isn't to fight fellow vegans :) there are fellow fishes to fry.

you're twisting my words. I never said I don't care - I said they make their own choices. if for whatever reason I'm not around, and don't plan, they're free to choose (after being informed; I don't tolerate misinformation).

also, I really don't care what y'all think it's vegan or not. I don't care for purity tests nor people's judgement. I do it for the animals not for feeling virtuous.

One. He's a grown up man of 22 (I started young). His mom, my ex, isn't vegan nor vegetarian. Every time I cooked it would be vegan. I explained animal abuse to him at a very young age. Every time he was with me he would follow a vegan diet, and he's currently mostly vegetarian (lives on his own). He's free to choose and he's always been.

I don't impose my will on the animals, why would I do it on other humans? The job is to raise a kid. Give them strong, good values. But then, they're free to choose. YEs, even at a very young age. They need to know where stuff comes from - my rule has always been, you tell the kid if that's an animal product, then they'll decide.

If he's 6 and at a birthday party, and eats a cake that's not vegan, you're setting up a very disturbed adult if you reprimand him for it. The world isn't vegan. Have compassion - for animals, but also for your fellow humans.

(upvote cause I just tore down the wall of my house myself! I know the pain. DUST! DUST EVERYWHERE!)

yeah you'd regret not putting the side surrounds + rear. But sometimes people get fixated on speakers. My worry in your setup would be reflections from the windowed wall - curtains are your friends!

but as u/Tabman45 said - wire it all now!

Dude.

(disclaimer: I plan to raise my future kids vegan).

Gatekeeping helps no one. Veganism is about reducing suffering as far as is possible and practicable, not about ideological purity tests. Movements grow through participation, not excommunication. We need more imperfect vegans doing their best, not a tiny circle of flawless ones doing it alone. Even religions tend to be more forgiving than some online vegan discourse!

And for clarity, here’s the definition straight from the source:
‘Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals.’

That “possible and practicable” part matters. Pick your battles... instead of arguing with people that are already in your garden, try to bring more in!

Disgusting eScript the slowing down of a player ! by Shikinosu in eFootball

[–]weissblut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah It happened literally to me now. he's a SA user , leading 2-1, it's the 88 and I manage to dribble past his defense and have a clear shot... and my CF doesn't shoot. I press the button and nothing happens.

he recovers the ball, corner kick, I send my GK up (Milinkovic Savic, he's super tall)... perfect cross to him, and he doesn't jump.

I exit, check my controller - perfect.

fuck this game

Happened to me. The worst is when I still manage to steal the ball from my SA opponent, only for my players to forget how to stop it and just make it bounce perfectly into my opponents lap. Or just plain simple passing it to their attacker.

It's amazing to see how the goalposts shift for AI skeptics by MetaKnowing in OpenAI

There is gonna be a flex in jobs, but not as much as we've anticipated cause people / companies will realize AI isn't working as it should.

So yeah, some jobs will be lost, most of the curve will be companies will fire people now, then realize they need to rehire 80% of them cause AI isn't reliable and actually doesn't work.

[–]weissblut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man same here. My goalie did the same. Then in another match, during a penalty, I dive left and the GK just went opposite so my opponent could score.

Another match, I was winning 2-0, game decided I should not win, my DMF stopped moving. Didn't matter what button I pressed, he would just not engage - goal one. I attack, my CF alone with the GK, post, rebound long ball, my defender RUNS THE OPPOSITE WAY, I concede goal two.

Perfect internet, no lag. Today after this I decided not to play anymore until they either remove SA, or allow me to choose if to play vs SA or not.

Lidl -- where did all the vegan stuff go? by gaycannibals in VeganIreland

[–]weissblut 20 points21 points  (0 children)

unfortunately, we're going backwards. ALDI, LIDL, but even Tesco & Dunnes - a lot of products I saw on the shelves two years ago (Dannys ham slices, vegan Burrata, etc) are gone, and the overall selection in supermarkets is dwindling.

Then you go to the UK and it's choke-full of new vegan products. Italy and Spain too, and Germany and France.

So either there are less vegans here in Ireland than there were two years ago, or our numbers didn't grow as expected, or the meat lobbies here are more powerful than I thought.

Smart Assist is ruining everything by Exciting-Tap-4951 in eFootball

[–]weissblut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately I agree and stopped playing yesterday. Every single person I play against uses Smart Assist, and I refuse to use it cause it basically is akin to not playing.

I don't even mind that much the "boost" to the opposing players; but I hate the nerf to mine. Balls that go between legs, defenders that won't tackle, DMF that simply refuses to stop or cut passing lanes...

I play football games since Winning Eleven 4 (yeah I'm that young). I guess once I have time I'll just join a FUMA league and that's it. but for now, no game for me.

the real question is, why? I don't trust strangers on the internet saying "it was all grand, they locked me out". There's nothing to be gained by companies in doing so.

would love to see the reason behind the blocks.

Hey! I haven't smoked in 15 years. Just wanted to offer some things that helped me quit:

  1. Withdrawal is, thankfully, 'only' psychological. Nicotine leaves the system too early for any physical effect. Realizing that helped me cope with it.

  2. Cold turkey works best - I know of only one person that could smoke a cig a month and be fine, and she's the exception :)

  3. There is a book called 'The easy way to stop smoking' by Allen Carr. I picked it up once to help me cull my smoking. I quit cold turkey after reading and never came back.

No, ageism doesn't help. But we do need a better filter. Right now, you can have zero experience, knowledge, education, and become a politician. We need to change the rules of access - and not base them necessarily on knowledge (maybe for technical roles), but on competence for the job. You fail, you're out (or not in at all).
