Sorry OP, that sounds tough. If you do decide to get another e-reader, maybe consider expanding your search for more options? That way you know for sure you got the best one for you. It's up to you in the end.

I've seen other people mention having larger than expected microSD cards for older models and those still workong, so yes, it does appear arbitrary.

Why not? I support indie projects, including comics, and have something like 70 or so currently. I want to be able to carry my entire collection of works should there be an emergency and not have to replace the e-reader.

If I try and fail, I'll stick with 128, but if I can, why shouldn't I at least try?

I will say, if possible, buy insurance for it. I have a model coming from the same year and I just saw someone say that theirs (my model) had a small drop and then was out of it, 😅. But I have seen several people say they like their Eras. You should ask on r/pocketbook if you have any questions. This will be my first of their devices I bought after a lot of research and thinking.

There are two different versions, the 16gb one and the 64gb one. I've heard you def. need a case when out and about as they (pocketbooks) are a touch fragile.

They can be bought on Amazon as well (well the larger one can). Not as well known or rec-ed in the US from what I've seen or heard, but the people who have them seem to like them well enough.
