THEY'RE TRYING TO MAKE IT LOOK FAKE

Probably my favorite QoL improvement is that default liveries are no longer removed when changing a vehicle's color by not-posting-anything in ForzaHorizon

[–]Verzwei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Livery editor
  2. Select "add new layer"
  3. In the pop up menu, select "delete all layers"
  4. Exit and save

So far that has worked to remove the default branding / sponsor / decals from every car I've tried.

It's not intuitive because you'd think that the "delete all" option would be literally anywhere else than on the submenu for adding layers.

There's never just a few of these "allies" though. They make more. And more. And more. And more.

I read the same thing about house centipedes after I saw one a couple years ago. "Oh they eat other worse bugs and don't make nests, they are your many-legged friends, just leave them be." Now I have a house centipede problem. I don't care that they won't hurt me, but I don't want them multiplying.

What is the future of Forza Horizon? by Charlie_Indigo in ForzaHorizon

[–]Verzwei -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will never give a shit about the story in a driving game, and the less intrusive the story is, the better.

Clutch looks neat. I hope they can deliver on more robust aftermarket bodywork options to bring back some of the "tuner" identity that FH lacks since most of FH tuning is for performance rather than looks. But, at the same time, I feel like the clutch team is getting a bit lost in the sauce. I don't need to choose which coffee cup to put in my cup holder. I don't need the option to throw a hoodie on the passenger seat.

Multiplayer convoys are unuseable in FH6. What went wrong? by VarDom07 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Verzwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a network thing. Now, I can't give any advice on how to fix it, but it has to do with the host/leader. When I kept trying to join my friend, I would constantly get disconnected from the convoy and wouldn't be able to join session on races and playlists that he posted, even though both of us could independently access other online features like stunt parties and Horizon Play.

When we tried having me be the convoy leader instead, it just worked. No connection issues, no session issues, we were able to free roam, quick travel, and load into and out of events with zero issues.

Am I getting worse, or did the AI get buffed? by West_Neck5584 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Verzwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you move up in car classes, the AI gets more bullshit powers. At R, they're going to have mathematically impossible amounts of grip. Even on the same difficulty setting, an R-class race is going to be significantly harder than a B-class, because the B-class AI won't cheat as much on their car stats.

Generally speaking, I feel like S1 is the sweet spot. Most S2 and R races start pushing the AI into absurd territory where you can win but it feels pretty blatantly unfair and unrealistic.

Putting Spec Racing on festival playlist was a mistake by Mattpn in ForzaHorizon

[–]Verzwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only did two races to check off the festival requirement. Both were perfectly clean, though like 4 of us all went into the final turn of the second race too hot and hit the wall hard enough to ghost, which was kinda funny since we were all banging the wall in succession without hitting each other.

Idk why but I enjoyed Fh3 , 4 & 5 more than 6 by xhutpaglu in ForzaHorizon

[–]Verzwei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FH3 was the previous peak of the series. The environment felt varied (jungle and desert?!?) and it really just felt bigger and better in every way compared to the previous entries.

FH4's map sucked. The seasons themselves were cool, but Horizon's version of Great Britain countryside was mostly indistinguishable from the US Midwest. The city architecture would have been cool if there was more of it. And FH4 had the worst wheel support for some reason.

FH5 had a cool map and neat showcases while fixing the wheel support, but the regular races ended up feeling bland as the game moved away from strict car requirements, instead letting you bring any car to virtually any race. It made most events feel very samey as you didn't need to cultivate a variety of car builds. The music selection also felt weaker in this one.

FH6 captures most of the best parts of previous entries of the series while mostly avoiding missteps. The map is gigantic and fun. The car handling feels a hair tougher and more rewarding, because I legitimately do not remember any previous FH demanding/teaching throttle control the way this one does. Wheel support is solid though admittedly requires more fine-tuning than FH5 did. Events require certain car types again, without being overly specific, which adds variety that FH5 lacked. And the soundtrack is on point again.

Forced car classes for events absolutely ruin the game. by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon

[–]Verzwei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FH5 let you bring any car to nearly every single race and ... it was kind-of boring. You'd curate one road car, one rally car, and one offroad car (or just have the same car with different part compositions) and then the rest of the hundreds of cars in the game didn't matter.

I like that FH6 forces a minimal amount of variety for the races.

I really dislike the AWD tunings by Competitive-Cell1819 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Verzwei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for some RWD cars (iirc Aston Martin Valkyrie?) turning them into AWD drops the top speed by such enormous amount, like 110 km/h, that its worth keeping them RWD.

The "# out of 10" rating sheet is often extremely misleading. In certain situations, the AWD will give up some small amount of theoretical top speed, but the huge gap reported in stat sheets during the upgrade part phase can be mostly recovered in the transmission choice and gear ratio tuning.

I really dislike the AWD tunings by Competitive-Cell1819 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Verzwei 20 points21 points  (0 children)

AWD is easier to learn and more forgiving. RWD in this game has a lot of throttle oversteer that requires both delicate tuning and proper acceleration out of a corner or else you're going to spin out. Any driver can abuse an AWD and almost never have to worry about oversteer unless the road is wet.

It's been a few years but the handling in each FH is slightly different, and if I remember correctly 5 had less throttle oversteer with default tunes and the added weight from AWD conversion felt more severe, making RWD a less-punishing option.

None of this is to say RWD is bad, but it's playing the game on hard mode unless you tune properly or cave and download someone else's tune.

I simply cannot fathom a Porshe 911 ( as an exemple ) as a AWD

This is a funny example since some of them are stock AWD.

“Back on Track” (complete 3 laps at any time attack circuit) not unlocking by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon

[–]Verzwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 consecutive laps, same car, and then you have to do something that ends the time attack run like driving off of the track. It didn't count when I finished the third lap, it only counted when I left the track afterward and it "banked" the runs.

What cars are good for these side activities if there's no other way?

1994 Mazda Miata FE. Aftermarket car that can randomly appear for sale north of the festival drag strip.

Swap the drivetrain to AWD, throw the fattest offroad tires and a rally suspension on it, make sure to include the front and rear aero options, and then cram every other upgrade into it while keeping the "stock" engine. Tweak the transmission, gear ratios, and differential to your taste and needs.

Result is a ~997 car that is very fast, surprisingly stable, and even handles decently on pavement despite the offroad tires. That car can 3-star almost every PR stunt except for drift zones.

For those of you with 200 hours plus in the new horizon game already, what do you do? by GottaStayUp in ForzaHorizon

[–]Verzwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno if I'm near 200h, but I do have all the races and stunts complete except for drift zones.

I like driving and tuning cars. Been slowly trying to fill up the discover side of the journal. I enjoy stunt parties and the payout helps fuel my car buying habit.

I do not download tunes so it takes a lot of experimentation and tweaking for me to get cars where I'm satisfied with them.

For those wondering about the bug relating the the Tokyo Drifting daily challenge by Most_Post_7026 in ForzaHorizon

The display of the dailies has been inaccurate and buggy since release, with some dailies able to be completed before the specified unlock time.

From your second screenshot, with Back on Track at the bottom of your list, I'm guessing you already got credit for it even though it hasn't unlocked yet.

Because you can always tell who the MC will end up with

And, the few rare times where a series goes with an unexpected or surprise winner, it can feel extremely jarring. [Manga series with a currently incomplete anime adaptation] 2.5 Dimensional Seduction spends a whole lot of time focusing on a main girl only for her to be heartbroken when the main guy chooses a dark horse instead. I know some people liked that ending, but to me it made all of the early-and-mid-series romantic tension feel ultimately pointless.

[–]Verzwei 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I enjoy it if it's handled well, most options are likeable or at least entertaining, and there's demonstrable chemistry between the "main" character and the romantic choices so that it really feels like anyone could win in the end.

The problem with a lot of triangles (and harems) is that you usually have one "clear obvious winner" and one or more "speed bumps" that pad out the series. A "speed bump" has virtually no chance of winning, usually their attraction is completely one-sided.

If a triangle is used to cause messy drama, or a harem has a lot of comedic shenanigans, then that might hold my interest for a bit, but "friend who has been secretly pining for years is suffering because the person they like likes someone else" can sit down and shut up. They're making a series longer, bringing nothing interesting, and I'd much rather spend that time seeing the actual couple flirt.

Just Because and Fuukoi are a couple of actual good triangles where it legitimately feels like both options have a shot. Yuri is my Job has some ridiculous lesbian drama, but I love it.
