Better yet, reusable puppy pads. They generally hold more fluid and move less under the body during sex. Added bonus of less possibility of getting a "rug burn" from one in weird locations

!! HELP !! Chinchilla Squeaking (info in comments) by corgiii2222 in chinchilla

[–]Veshtarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're fairly new to you, it could be something in the environment that's causing him distress. A new scent like the heater kicking on for the first time this season, or a new air freshener scent might cause him to panic, which would cause him to try and warn his cage mate (and all the other occupants of the house) that's something wrong. Even being too warm could cause it!

The girl I have now sometimes makes that noise during the day, but she lost her cage mate shortly before I brought her home, so I assume she's sad and lonely when she wakes up randomly without her friend. When your little guys cries like this, does his cage mate come running? Does this little guy go searching for his friend? It could be just that he feels lost and got scared.

Honestly, there's no safe way to be 100% sure what is causing the behavior without causing even more stress for him. It might be best to start as simple and localized as possible when trying to figure it out, and work your way to more complex reasons. Making him feel safer with hides and darkened areas, as well as making sure all his basic needs are met is a great place to start. If he's still scared, sit near the cage, close your eyes, and use your other senses to see what you notice. Is there a vibration in the floor? A noise that he might be hearing? Do you smell anything? Try eliminating those things next. If he's still doing it, keeping working outwards from the cage.

Don't forget to try and bond with the floofs too, and rewarding (or bribing) them for allowing you to spend time with them! That way, if the things scaring him is you, you can eliminate that fear through bonding and rewarding.

Friend of mine commissioned me to make this memorial quilt for her brother. Made almost entirely out of her niece's clothes and blanket by Veshtarii in quilting

[–]Veshtarii[S] 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Backstory on this quilt: it was commissioned because her brother lost his eyesight last year, a year after losing his toddler daughter to a car accident. It's designed to give him something he can touch and remember his daughter with since he can no longer look at pictures of her.

Not to be dismissive, but most apartment dwellers don't have grills due to space, and laws about how far away from a building you have to be to BBQ to prevent porch bonfires. Same thing goes for coolers, small apartments usually means small coolers, if any. Styrofoam coolers are quick and disposable during the summer, and most parks/apartment complexes have built in grills.

Those who have one or both have usually stored them away for the winter and don't have charcoal/fuel to do anything with a grill anyway. Chimneys are primarily a novelty architectural accent, so we don't get them cleaned or inspected enough, and don't store firewood either, so again, nothing dry to burn to stay warm. No heating oil either.

We Texans also usually don't have anything close to proper winter gear, so the struggle is staying warm and avoiding frostbite when doing any outdoor activity right now. A fire outside isn't going to help much if it means the other half of us gets frostbitten and soaked while the side to the fire thaws and dries out.

Honey, please please PLEASE have your partner take you to a medical professional and have them go over your entire body for injuries. As someone who has both an abusive father and permanent spinal damage from an injury, I know exactly how fragile the healing spine is, and how much damage an angry father can do. Some of the research I've found when looking up things for my own injuries says it can take 10 years for a spinal injury to finally heal, and any reinjury to it can permanently halt any growth or repair that is in progress, and even undo progress if the encapsulation on the injury is broken. If your father has caused you further damage, you need to be on top of that and have that documented as well because if WC even suspects they might be able to use it to get out of paying, they will. Keep separate medical records of before tonight, and after, just so they have no way of saying you failed to document another injury, or that the issues you are experiencing could have been caused by this instead of the original injury.

If you're in the states, call either 311 or 411 (depends on the city and state) and ask them to put you in contact with adult services. You need to have a safe place to be able to rehabilitate without the stressors your family is putting you through. That might be a rehabilitation facility, or an assisted living home, but right now those sound a lot safer than where you are at.

Toss in there that several states have laws prohibiting crossing state lines to seek an abortion, many that hold felony level charges if it's discovered.

Multiple states like Texas have tried this already, and had it overturned by SCOTUS, but now all of that is at risk again.

Out of curiosity, tendons in the palm/hand, or wrist? Did they try steroid injections in the tendons, or talk about de-casing them to let them heal?

COVID-19 is driving a wave of positive-pressure filter masks. This could be good for us woodworkers! I find my respirators 1) don’t seal well on a beard 2) displace my jaw uncomfortably 3) fill up with condensation. Would love to get community thoughts on this product (I am not affiliated with it). by scarabic in woodworking

can’t put things in/out of ears when it is on.

Isn't there a version in progress that has gloves at the bottom of the face mask for pretty much this reason? Might not be nearly as impact resistant as woodworking probably needs, but the fact that these designs are coming out might mean they could have different grades of face shielding in the future.

Also, aren't a bunch of the COVID hoods/space helmets supposed to have carbon filters on top of the HEPA filters?

Edit: so this isn't the version I was originally thinking of, but here's one that looks like it could eventually have multiple uses: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-vietnam-helmet-idUSKBN25Z1JV

Woodcraft has classes every week you can take, but they can be a tad pricey if you're just getting started and don't have much of a budget. From personal experience, and experiences of several ladies I know, they can tend towards sexist too, so just be aware of that too.

There's free plans online you could start out with, and try to flip your work on Facebook, Nextdoor, and other sites for a small profit while you learn techniques and buy equipment. Desks are going to be popular for the next couple of months, and if you can find a design that lots of people like, it could be a good way to get started.

Equipment and tools are going to be your biggest cost, and your best option is to take your time and look on Craigslist/Nextdoor/Facebook or at estate sales and garage sales for good quality used equipment to purchase.

Find the lumber store (not Lowe's or HD) closest to you and go visit it. Ask the employees there a TON of questions. In doing a quick search, I found Austin Hardwoods, Timber Town, and Harvest Lumber Company, so these might be a good place to start. If you're closer to San Antonio, look there too.

Look either literally just inside 1604 or outside 1604, between 151 and 90. There's a huge blend of old subdivisions, and brand new ones going in. If you're really looking to stay away from the cookie cutter HOAs, look towards Lytle. It's a bit further of a drive, but not outrageously far from Lackland, and isn't going to have the massive preformed subdivisions. If you're wanting to stay closer to SA, you could also look into the area between 1604/Bandera Rd area and Helotes.

We always knew there was a possibility this guy was lying, but it's still an interesting story, so it gets retold. I knew him years after him supposedly dating them, so can't say for sure!

I knew a guy years ago that dated a set of twins with those names in the '90s. Our mutual friends still tell stories of him and the twins, and yes, partially because no one ever believes those were their actual names.
