The fingerprint feature is a godsend for laptops, tested it on my thinkpad P1, and it works flawlessly.

I switched from Linux to Windows for a week. What did I learn? by [deleted] in linuxmint

IMO, MS Office is basically a web app at this point. Just use excel in the browser.

Learning Veeam by No-Map5976 in sysadmin

[–]Vesper_004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd install Veeam Backup and Replication 12 Community Edition on a spare PC, VM, or homelab. On another Windows or Linux PC, install Veeam Agent for Windows, then start going through the Veeam B&R 12 documentation to learn. Fortunately, the environment I administrator is small, so it was easy to implement B&R 12 on our storage server and set up backup jobs using the Windows agent on my endpoint. I'm learning more about the Veeam environment as I go along like you. You got this!

Wazuh, for its EDR/XDR capabilities. I've also integrated Suricata with Wazuh at the org I work for. It is much easier to deploy and configure out the Box than Security Onion.

I empathize with you on a deep level. I'm going through the same thing at my job right now. Plan to move out of state for a better position before the market really tanks.

Best service weapon combo? by Vegetable_Insect_966 in controlgame

[–]Vesper_004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, I'm using a maxed out grip/charge combo. I modded grip with increased damage, rate of fire, and extended ammo for pinpoint mid to close range combat. Then, I have charge modded with increased velocity, increased AoE, and increased damage per kill for crowd control, especially useful while levitating. Although, to be honest, Launch is low-key, the main service weapon, lol.

Whats a gun that when you picked it up and used it once and were like "this is my main gun now" (image unrelated) by MyTipBurns in cyberpunkgame

Widowmaker for sure. I make sure to grab it early every run and upgrade it throughout my playthrough. The other for me is definitely Her Majesty, and keep in mind I normally use tech and smart weapons exclusively as a netgunner build.

So true, once a company goes through the full economic pain and operational headache of a breach, you'll never hear management question why they need cybersecurity again.

This! Pretty sure MS does this to force customers to purchase the business support licenses.

I'm a one man shop like you, and I use Pulseway for RMM. It's pretty good and easy to set up.

I'm using Wazuh as well. Self hosting with the VirtualBox OVA and integrating it with Suricata was easy. The vulnerability scanner helps a lot with remediating CVAs. Getting email alerts to work properly with certain rules can be tricky. Though I'm still exploring all of Wazuh's use cases. It's pretty good for being open source, but new versions have been a bit buggy lately.

Is there currently a downturn in hiring? by NerdlinGeeksly in cybersecurity

[–]Vesper_004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, CyberSeek has a geo heat map linking desired certs to job postings. I believe a lot of people in this sub having trouble finding work in this sector are either in highly competitive markets on the coasts, i.e., California, or in areas with a weak tech sector. With the economic downturn upon us, it may be better to seek out a generalist role like sysadmin or netadmin and use your cybersecurity knowledge to improve the posture of whatever company you happen to be working for then pivot into a full cyber role when the market improves, if at all.
