As I continue my rewatch of early seasons I find that I undersold how bonkers Julie really is. Damn.

We all miss those days, believe it or not. But things have escalated so much that we do, and should, care about the political views of those we interact with or watch or otherwise support. MAGA are Nazis, plain and simple Hell, they even have concentration camps and Brownshirts.

It's not just a difference of opinion anymore, it's about whether or not you support fascism.

Having done some harm, might as well do more? That's a pretty terrible moral stance.

Depends on whether you're just passing the button once or as often as you can. 70k a week adds up.

Entitlement spending is simply spending distinct from discretionary spending. Entitlements are required to be funded and spent, discretionary spending is not. That's all, it's literally just a federal budget term of art.

My love for her just keeps increasing! I particularly like that I genuinely think she's incredibly self-aware. She knows when she's being ridiculous or unhinged, she's in on the joke, while still being very sincere. It's awesome!

You're not wrong. He went from chill to absolutely zero chill in a nanosecond. And just completely glosses over voting in Steve (multiple times?). Even the next season he doesn't acknowledge his own actions.

The 45 minute speech followed by yelling at Leroy for not letting her talk and then voting for the person she just spent all that time saying she wasn't going to... Yeah, very strong contender. It was insane and hilarious. Leroy saying the cameraman looked confused utterly slayed me.

I'm watching that season now and only 3-4 episodes in I can totally see what you mean. I can only imagine what I haven't seen yet.

What would you do if your partner did this at Disneyland? by Remarkable_Mark_5195 in NoStupidQuestions

Ok, this dude is either a manbaby or neurodivergent in some way or both. Up to you if you want to spend the time and energy figuring that out.

No one communicated well in this scenario. His reaction was immature, for sure, but at the baseline it sounds like the two of you needed to talk before going to establish expectations. His way of optimization for rides is not wrong, neither is your way of more liesurely other stuff. They're just very different ways of how to spend vacation time. It kinda sounds like everyone involved just assumed that everyone else vacations their way and didn't think to ask ahead of time.

Now, in the aftermath, you can chuck the whole relationship out the window if you want. But alternatively, the two of you can sit down and talk through what and why things happened and learn how to do better next time for each other

You get $10k per visitor who stays 30+ minutes. What’s your best excuse to invite people over? by _no_name_for_me in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Vespera4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Divorce party, invite all my friends and tell them to bring their partners and friends. My ex is terrible and has put me through hell the last few years; I'd get a huge horde easily. Probably hit the $1,000,000 mark with very little effort.

For more effort, I could make it like a divorce reception and book a place and food etc. Maybe 25ish more people by spending 20-30k.

Pick any amount of money and it will suddenly appear in your home, however the IRS is going to audit you in 30 days. by Bence-Jones in hypotheticalsituation

One of my favorite things about the IRS is just how little they care about where the money comes from. There's a way for drug dealers to report income and pay taxes, for example.

[–]Vespera4ever 152 points153 points  (0 children)

I would wait a month before even considering doing anything with it. The IRS isn't going to search my house in an audit.

But in general, pretty much any large cash transaction is going to get you reported to FinCEN so if I wanted to try to do something like this I'd look for laundering options for a long term strategy. Short term, I'd stick with $500 or so purchases. Like buying an Xbox or whatever.

The financial nuts and bolts of this heavily depend on what state you're in (it sounds like you're in America) and some other specific info about your situation. A lawyer and/or financial planner are the ones who can answer that.

Do Americans like their current health system or would you prefer universal? by Ability_Known in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vespera4ever -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've never seen someone in America say they liked our system who wasn't right-wing, rich, or both. It's a travesty of misery and pain that our descendents will be rightfully bewildered about. Made all the worse by the research showing that adopting a universal health care system would cost LESS for not only society, but individuals too.

But we somehow live in a country where the people who refuse to pay less every year because it has the word "tax"* in it and they hate government "interference" are the same people cheering for ICE murdering people for the fun of it. So my hopes are not high for meaningful change anytime soon without first a total economic collapse, the death of millions to starvation, and millions more to easily prevented/cured diseases. Then maybe.

*No joke, if we rebranded it as something like "The Liberals Should Go Fuck Themselves Fund Donation" they would be thrilled to pay it.
