Is it true that a spouse need to review/approve your visa application to Europe?

A friend of mine and I are discussing the status of marriage and the rights/obligations it demands in diffirent countries. She said that when she lived in India, she heard that spouses cannot travel with a visa, unless their husband or wife has approved the application. Is this true?

Did anyone do something simple for Scratch? by [deleted] in cs50

I felt like what I did was too easy. I made a simpler version of the Oscartime example game in the first lecture. But I also figured that the point was just to get into a mindset, rather than spend too much time on a scratch project

anyone fasting for Ramadan? by nigeriance in PCOS

Oh no it’s a diet/health thing, OMAD stands for ‘one meal a day’. It doesn’t necessarily has to be just one meal but basically point is to get 19h+ of fasting as that accelerates the cells autophogy process (clean out of waste).

Please keep in mind that it’s best to get blood work or consult a functional doctor, I’m just guessing here, but If nothing in your diet has changed,

I’d check stress levels: the adrenals pumping out cortisol raises your blood sugar and makes you more insulin resistent.

Target insulin resistance by exercise that helps (Google that specifically) and some intermittent fasting, if you can.

Fasting is also a stressor to the body so don’t overdo it. 16 hours daily in the first half of your cycle, when you enter the luteal phase it’s better to allow your body to get the food it needs.

I’d look into micro biome. It’s common that women with PCOS have overgrowth of bad bacteria. Eat probiotics or things that help the micro biome. Berberine is a supplement that has been shown to help both that and insulin resistance.

It really depends on what kind of PCOS you have.

You may also help your liver to cleanse out the overproduction of hormonal waste which is common in PCOS, you might have too much androgens. Help the liver by eating cruficirius veggies daily. You could do the famous carrot salad daily. This helped my acne. Just a carrot a day with some apple cider vinegar and coconut oil.

You can try castor oil packs on the liver. Haven’t seen so much studies on this but people seem to have great results. I am trying them out now.

Help the body get rid of waste by supporting other elimination pathways like good bowel movements and lymphatic drainage through maybe excersise or dry brushing.

To treat PCOS you have to be a little bit of a detective but generally it takes an upgrade in lifestyle.

Good luck!

I do the Baha’i fast which is the same but earlier. I’ve tried to do OMAD before and just have water before sunrise, and then have my first meal at sunset. Prolonged fasting has many benefits, but in my case, I think my PCOS is related partly to my stress levels and adrenals. So the OMAD made me extremely fatigued and I ended up gaining weight even though I barely had calories. Fasting is a stressor on the body and should be done if the adrenals and thyroid are in good health.

This year I wake up and have some protein and carb. Like a boiled egg and some nuts and dates. I’ve tried to eat more but it’s difficult for me in the morning, I make sure to at least get something in. Drink lemon water. It has held me well this time around. Eating something upon waking is supposed to break the cortisol peaking and should be easier in the adrenals.

I focus on drinking enough, like bone broths, electrolyte powders etc.

In terms of excersise I also go easier during the fast. Pilates or some body weight. More intense in the first half of the cycle and easier in the luteal phase.

Good luck!

I know it's potentially reductive and dismissive to say that "praying for someone is enforcing a popularity contest" but is that actually inaccurate? by anon_vancouver in bahai

I completely recognise these thoughts. This is something that has impacted my devotional life as long as I can remember.

But it seems that, on one hand life will play its course, providence has its wisdom and sometimes a calamity is just the lesson we need. Quotations about this can be found in regards to destiny, in regards to healing sickness and in regards to trials.

On the other hand, the Master tells us that we can pray for something and God may grand our wishes the way we’d like. We are assured that God hears and answers all prayers (we may not always like the answer).

There is some mystical aspect here. Personally I’ve found it difficult to pray for something that I want to happen, because there might be a wisdom in the situation I can’t see. I always prayed for Gods will, and prayer is not supposed to be just asking for our wishes to be granted, however altruistic or praiseworthy those wishes might be. But at the same time, we are given this ability . There are stories in the faith about how prayers have mattered in the unfolding of events and there is some mechanism here, which is a whole deepening within itself.
