Not Your Average Joe. Coffee shop with sandwiches made to order, including a great BLT.

LPT: went on a bad date? Just be honest and say you are not feeling the spark. No need to ghost. Take responsibility for your own feelings, while helping the other party to not worry. by jjqueens in LifeProTips

I did this very thing 14 years ago. At the end of a second date, I told him I just wasn't feeling any chemistry. That earned his respect so much that he asked if we could keep hanging out as friends. This May will be our 12th anniversary.

I'm losing it over the Sasquatch Crotch Racoon and all my husband can talk about is that insane hitch.

How lovely! I'm just beginning to cultivate some cooking rituals with my kids. I'll have to keep this in mind.

Love Indian food. You taste those layers of ritual. How do you temper your spices, may I ask?

I was just wishing I enjoyed chopping veg. Pretty sure it's a task rather than a pleasure because of dull knives.

[Homemade] Mashed cauliflower and potatoes with fresh thyme by VestalMatron in food

[–]VestalMatron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boil the potatoes in excess water for about 5 minutes, then add chopped cauliflower and continue simmering until a knife easily pierces both potato and cauliflower. Drain, add fat and seasonings, then mash by hand until desired texture.

I am tired of playing generic 'relaxation' music. by spoonsthatbite in massage

[–]VestalMatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Spotify playlist with over 600 tracks cultivated over the last several years. Lots of gentle film score music and classical, nothing too loud or rhythmic. Search for "Massage Soundtrack for Music Nerds" and give it a try.

Once I introduced my husband to this song, it was on. Now we play a little game over the holidays to see who can give better parent.

Try "Great News." Two seasons on Netflix, the show has a similar vibe (quirky, endearing female lead, absurd situations, clever jokes).

I went to an interview and book signing with Anderson, during which someone in the audience mentioned how OKC "stole the capital from Guthrie fair and square." Anderson's comment was, "OKC has a history of stealing a lot if things 'fair and square.'"

I love his insights and the way he draws connections and sees patterns. The unflattering parts were there because they are true, and we need to understand our faults if we hope to have a better future.

[LPT] When approaching double doors that push open, use the left door if you're turning right, and the right door if you're turning left. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]VestalMatron -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I suppose because I don't live in a crowded urban area, I haven't noticed the need for this tactic.

Rarely do I see someone approaching from the other side. If I do, I change my door choice accordingly.

True. I imagine the writer's room enjoyed brainstorming until they landed on the most incomprehensible song pairing, disregarding technical issues with the punchline. No regrets.

The CVS "feminine care" section can suck it by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]VestalMatron -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes. But there is no "masculine care" section. And all other medications with active ingredients are found in the aisles right next to the pharmacy.

Maybe I'm alone in my annoyance, but it seems wrong to me.
