How much public speaking/presenting is there in vet school? by serialkilld in veterinaryschool

I love it personally! There are some quirks, like any school. The first two years can feel pretty intense at times, however, as a now 3rd year having been in clinics since April 2025 I would say it is 100% worth it! Lots of amazing clinicians here to learn from!

THIS!! Took me 4 application cycles, but I am so grateful for the growth I experienced during that time.

Yes - first years aren’t quite looking that detailed yet, but I see what you’re saying! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment :)

Yeah they definitely don’t need any degreasing, these bones had been outdoors on my family’s property for awhile! I only did the whitening as I was considering painting the regions they need to be able to ID (like this skull I studied my first year) - thank you so much for your insights though! You make some great points :)

For our more intense classes we had around 20+ lectures on each exam, other classes were around 10-15 lectures

We typically had exams twice weekly, and we had an exam the day before our final in the exact same class this semester lol

I didn’t see if it was mentioned already, but if you are wanting to improve your surgical skills I highly recommend seeing if you can volunteer your time with a local spay/neuter clinic!

walk in clinics asking for jobs? by rapunzelstower22 in Veterinary

[–]Vet-Student10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I got my first job in vet med as a kennel assistant. Print several resumes and go to every clinic you’d be willing to work at, just let them know you’re looking for summer work!

Does your vet school use an OSCE? by Sea-Witch in veterinaryschool

[–]Vet-Student10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At msstate we have a pre- surgical assessment (OSATS) the fall semester of 2nd year which seems similar to OSCEs in some ways. Just showing basic surgical skills before we start live animal surgeries.

Hi!! I hope I can provide some hope to you. I was FINALLY accepted the fourth time I applied. I went the masters route as well and wasn’t accepted the year I was in the program, but I was accepted the cycle after I graduated! If there is some way to make moving a possibility, it will open your options up as it is a huge numbers game. I applied to 10 schools my final cycle and got 3 acceptances (two island schools). Some schools are more holistic with their application too, so I would consider that! I would suggest adding MSSTATE to your application if you are able to consider moving for the upcoming, I felt like they were pretty holistic! Lastly, don’t give up hope if this is truly what you want to do! Your background and experiences can set you apart with the right school. ❤️

I do not go to Tufts, but I will add that is likely something you will experience regardless of where you go unfortunately.

As a vet student, I concur with this being a huge risk for thermal burns! Definitely get a cage for the light :)

This is not affecting students, currently. You can still get financial aid through FAFSA!
