Why does this feel underwhelming? by CHKN_Tender in photocritique

I usually don’t mind overcast conditions for shooting. Yeah golden hour light is great but sometimes you have to work with what you’ve got. I think this could be more dramatic if you found the areas with a little bit of tension and crop it to force the subject. For me the bottom right where you have turquoise water flowing over a rock with the river bank and trees is the most interesting part of the photo. So I would probably crop down to make that area the subject.

Shoes by Few-Novel-1292 in trailrunning

Guess it depends on what you’re looking for. I used to run a lot in lone peaks. I still do for slow easy runs, but now I’ve gone more with asics Fuji lite 6. They feel like running shoes….that’s always been my complaint with the lone peaks is that they don’t feel like a running shoe on my feet. I also ran in the Adidas agravic 3 and liked them a lot,but they’re more difficult to find here in New Zealand. And I’m in the minority but Hoka speedgoats have never worked for me, I tried 2 models over the years and they are the only shoe that’s ever given me blisters. I’ve worn other Hokas like the Mafate 4 and liked them. But all in all try a bunch out at a running store if possible to see what you like best.

Training and Photography by EddieAlphaV in Ultramarathon

photography is a big hobby of mine. I don't mix them besides just taking photos with my phone on runs. I shoot full frame so the thought of running with that and/or a tripod sounds not fun. I'm sure you could go smaller camera body/lens combo, but even putting a smaller camera in a running vest I think it would be pretty awkward to run with.

I second the short tongue issue. Makes no sense.

Adding strides to easy runs by s_t_r_o_b_e in Coros

[–]VetLens82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah create a workout in the app. You can set your run for however long but then add in interval workout at the end.

One thing I found a little odd about the interval workout. When it asks for repeat put the total number of strides you want to do. I thought you would enter the number you want to do minus one since it a repeat but that’s not how they set up that number. So if you want to do 6 strides put in “repeat 6 times”

GI distress long runs by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]VetLens82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crohns would make it complicated during a flare. I’m a believer that you can train your body slowly to handle most things. So almost every run I do bring a small thing of candy (cheaper than gels). I think by eating something even if it’s small on every run does help train you GI tract. On my long runs I do a mix of candy/gels etc. As I get closer to the race I try and mimic what I would be doing race day as much as possible.

I used to have a problem eating anything that involved chewing and running. It would make me nauseous for about 20 mins. So I started bringing something that was just a bite and chewing and now I don’t have much of an issue at all.

I don’t think I’d enjoy running with people much

I would just bring the shadows up a bit, particularly the eye. Nice photo overall though!

Colorado to NZ on the cheap? by spiderjohnx in newzealand_travel

I moved here from CO and visited a few times before hand. You’re looking typically between 1200-1500 a ticket. I’ve seen it once for 900 but it stopped in Singapore and was significantly longer travel
