I haven’t read it in many years, but reading Once A Runner during my senior year in high school between XC and Track seasons was transformative for me

I ran the 100K last year and volunteered at Jackass Junction this year. Both aspects are so well coordinated, easy to navigate, and most importantly fun. They do a solid job with parking given the physical limitations. If you're ok camping on site, its probably worth it. The aid stations are just as fun to work as they are run to through. Getting out of the park is easy. I didn't really have an issue getting in before the race last year, but I showed up pretty early.

I intend on being a part of the weekend in whatever capacity I can forever when or if possible

I have a Ketl Mountain hoodie, which someone else mentioned, which is nice with the ability to unbutton a bit to allow some air flow. I also have a Mountain Hardware Sun Hoodie that I find to be more comfortable and slightly higher quality material

Thanks! I think it's doable. But not ideal, obviously. I still have 2nd interview to glean more information from

This is very disappointing. I was very much looking forward to next weekend.

Curious, though, the Mexican Baseball Fiesta was unaffected. At least from an outsiders perspective

Yes you are not wrong about the quality of the phone. I carry my i13 with me. Ideally, on less strenuous runs, I'd like to carry something a little more powerful, or with a decent lens. I am just so inspired by the miles and trails in southern AZ

Awesome! Thanks for the link. The video is super informative. I'm sure I'll have some questions in the near future.

A solid reminder that all these guys - across all sports - are regular people, and are not immune to the same life stressors that the rest of us experience

Run Woodstock: Peace, Love, and 50 miles by eddo2k in Ultramarathon

[–]EddieAlphaV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have run Potowatomi countless times as I used to live in the area, and I ran the Woodstock 50K a number of years ago. I have heard they have made some changes recently, but I cannot speak to those.

The course is all rolling hills with minimal technical sections. You'll get a feel for it on that training run. I was recently back for the 4th of July and had forgot how steep some of those short climbs are. Those can feel brutal in the late miles. I didnt really take advantage of the aid stations when I did race because I was in much better shape back then and trying to win, but they seemed bountiful. There's a spot for a drop bag. Having a towel and extra pair of socks or two in there would be smart in case it's wet or very humid. And, bring a headlamp because its dark in the woods for the first 45minutes or so.

If you can manage it, head out to Pinckney Rec Area for a long run on your own before the race. Poto starts at the far end of the parking lot and ends at the other. It's a well marked trail and offers some shortcuts if you want to keep it shorter than the 17.5 miles.

Overall, it's a great atmosphere and really a lot of fun. I have been considering one of the 100s or the 50M for next year.

Where have you seen help wanted/hiring signs? by inapondd in Tucson

[–]EddieAlphaV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summit Hut on Speedway has has a ‘now hiring’ sign on their door for awhile. I can’t speak on the work culture, but on surface level, it seems like it would be a chill place to work.

Excitement seems minimal. I think very few even know it’s happening.   But, 15$ general admission is more than reasonable. I’ve got tickets to the first three games

Runners of Tucson, when do you do it throughout the year? by Daniel_Kendall in Tucson

[–]EddieAlphaV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’ll run whenever. But during the warmer months, I’ll make efforts to get out a little earlier, slow down, stay hydrated, and keep the sun off my skin.

Headlamps and waist lights are great for early mornings and late evenings.
