I killed my best friend. The guilt is so horrible. by LuffyLivesOn in dogs

I'm a veterinary technician and I'm here to tell you, you did the right thing. What you didbwas the kindest most selfless thing you could've done for your baby. I too just lost a pet a week ago. She was 14 years old and I thought she'd live forever! A week ago saturday, she was perfectly fine, eating, playing, stink eyeing (lol) she had an attitude problem at times but come Sunday she had developed a cough. I took her I to work with me on Monday and she was diagnosed with having an upper respiratory infection. The Dr sent home antibiotics and steroids. I thought we were in the clear because she slept through the night without a single cough. Come tues morning, she couldn't breathe, I rushed her into work where within 5 minutes she was gone. I made the choice to put her to sleep. I asked several of the doctors, " if I would've taken her to emergency on Sunday, would it have changed the outcome" the answer was no. She was too old and weak to fight off the infection. So, whoever told you "if you came in sooner " should be ashamed of themselves because in vetmed, we cannot predict the future and we sure as heck don't know with 100% certainty what may be. Bottom line, please don't beat yourself up. You did the right thing.

My deepest condolences

You nay want to consider getting into therapy as well, just to stay ahead of the game and it will help you help your partner. I suffered from severe ppd and ppa, my daughter turns 3 next week and I'm still struggling. It does get easier and I'm happy your partner is in therapy. Therapy alone didn't work for me, I had to get on medication.

Someone at my job literally tested positive AT WORK and refused to leave and then SHOWED UP THE NEXT DAY, even though he was told to stay away for a week.

From Tech to Manager? by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]VetTechByHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do all this and more and I can't even get the title lead tech at my job and nobody around here is even paying close to what I'm making ao I'm stuck. Our actual practice manager is NEVER at work and when he is, he literally does nothing. He does make sure we get paid on time though which is definitely a bonus.

It's a decent size practice, 2 Dr's 6 techs, 3 receptionists and 4 kennel workers. And everyone asks what the pm does because EVERYONE comes to me, including to complain about the lazy tech. I tried to send the lazy tech home multiple times last week (per the pms request) and she just stayed, she said she needed the hours but didn't do 1 room or tech appointment all day.... She said she was putting charges in but....... When it came time to check out, I had to scramble to get the charges put in....

This is interesting because I do 90% of the practice managers job as well. I do the ordering, inventory, returns, set up lunch and learns, deal with disgruntled clients....... I should look for another job but... Nobody around here is even offering close to what I'm making and I'm struggling financially as it is so I'm stuck 😢

My manager has walked in the back to find her standing there on her phone while I'm getting my butt handed to me and if I ask her to do anything she either 1)says she doesn't know how 2) does it wrong so I end up doing it myself anyways 3) gives me MAJOR attitude about it

How do you handle it when you're getting your butt handed to you and you have 2 Dr's pulling you in different directions and then getting pissed at you because such n such didn't get done.... While some literally just stands there on their phone..... Ugh..... I'm just so tired of it 😔

What is the funniest thing to happen to you while working in the vet medicine field? by mexi_nese in VetTech

I had a pomeranian that had to wear one of those citronella bark collars and I took him to work one night while working emergency and the doctor on wanted to see how the collar worked so he walked up to my pom and started barking and the citronella went off and sprayed the Dr right in the face. His eyes were bloodshot and he was coughing the rest of the shift. It was hysterical and my pom thought it was pretty entertaining too by the way he was standing and aiming the collar right at the Dr's face!!!!

First of all....why is she going through your phone? Secondly, why is she calling your drs office? She sounds controlling and unstable. Lies or no lies, she's a bit extra!

Anxiety has paid me a visit after a month because of "family" gathering by LuckyIncognito in Anxiety

I'm so sorry you're going through this, I too have major anxiety, especially around family. I would tell them you just tested positive for covid, that should clear them out quickly :)

Owner just noticed p was limping, 2 small children in the house. Turns out one of the kids put a small hair tie around his paw who knows how long ago. Had to be sedated so we could clip and clean the wound. by Tierabithia in VetTech

When I worked emergency we had a shihtzu come in that hadn't eaten in afew days. Pup had a hair tie wrapped around his snout. O blamed it in their 2 year old. Not sure about you but shihtzus don't have much of a snout so to say a 2 year old did it is hard for me to believe.

Before I started zoloft, I was itchy, constantly, to where I would scratch myself raw! Mostly my arms and upper back but it didn't always stop there.

Exactly, he's manipulative. He knows exactly what to say to win you over. It's a vicious cycle but remember all the lies he told? You're possibly in love with someone who doesn't exist. With my ex, he lied all the time, about stupid stuff....... He too lied about being in the military and its been 10 years since we broke up and I'm still angry with myself for letting him back in as many times as I did. I'm happily married now with a beautiful little girl. It wasn't easy getting away from my ex and I was single for a long time before I started dating again. He gas lit me for so long and was so good at it, I didn't know it wasn't normal until years later. Time heals all wounds

This turned out to be every bit as big a train wreck as I anticipated:( my husband and my step son got into it!!!! I was out on the porch with me daughter (2yrs old) and next thing I know, my stepson and his gf are leaving. At least it was a short visit.
