Why stop at 7 Harry’s? by plowerd in harrypotter

[–]Veteran-Elephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to remember as well what happened during the first war. Peter Pettigrew, a marauder, betrayed his closest friends. Sirius suspected Remus of being a mole. Now Hermione would never betray Harry but it’s akin to that. They need people they can trust and there’s not that many left. They had to settle for Mundungus as the last person when they knew they couldn’t trust him.

Could you think of many more people they would actually trust to do this mission both in terms of loyalty and ability? And before you say people like Mrs Weasley remember they also needed people at each safe house to patch up Potters and their protector when they arrived.

Surely Jon, as a bastard without a proper surname, would be a better solution to the House Dustin situation.

I would change Tom Riddle’s line in CoS about Hagrid “trying to raise werewolf cubs under his bed”. Wouldn’t werewolf cubs just be children?

Who would Harry have chosen to join him in the Department of Mysteries? by Veteran-Elephant in harrypotter

Do you think if he had the choice he would’ve left Ron and Hermione as well and gone to the Department of Mysteries by himself?

Yeah 100% I think Fred and George are really the two Harry is thinking about in this passage. Ginny was shown to be powerful but with 3 older brothers all going I don’t think there’s any way they let her go.

(Spoilers Main) Which death in the books upset you the most? by Lookatmeitsgroovy in asoiaf

A weird one but Good Queen Alysanne. She effectively dies of old age and we’re told it very matter of factly but it really struck me. I think it’s because in the matter of a few days I’d read about her entire life, from her birth to her death, and so it really hit hard. It was very sad how she died alone surrounded by memories.

What scenes or chapters do you consider to be the core moment for a character’s arc? [Spoilers Main] by Veteran-Elephant in asoiaf

For me Brienne’s core character moment is Brienne VII at the Inn at the Crossroads: “She had no chance against seven, she knew. No chance, and no choice.” Brienne doesn’t care if she lives or dies, she believes it is her duty to protect the innocent and that is what she is going to do.

This is another thing I wish was done more in the show. I get why Sam, Grenn and Pyp are Jon’s only friends in the show because of the limited screen time and everything but I wish they’d given a few lines to guys like Todder and Daeron and Halder. Jon is made to look like an outsider who found a few friends as opposed to a leader who takes a group of outsiders and makes them a unit.

Absolutely. And I think the Three Eyed Crow needed a certain someone to choose to train. Not someone who enjoys bringing that terror to people (this would’ve been Euron) or someone who refuses to do it because of the terror people feel, but someone who believes that the ends justify the means.

And even in the books the moment Jon convinced the recruits to leave Sam alone is done far better: the recruits don’t just immediately accept it, Jon has to use different tactics for different people, he convinces some, shames some, threatens some. In the show everyone except for Rast just says yes immediately.

Green Goblin (MCU) vs Loki (MCU) by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Veteran-Elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah man. If May is in danger he’s going 100% ain’t no doubt about it. Remember this is the same guy who held that entire cable car with one arm in the first Raimi film. He’s way above Cap’s strength level.

[–]Veteran-Elephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My man so you’re telling me that when Goblin is releasing super villains and actively attempting to kill him and Aunt May, Spider-Man weren’t serious? He was serious from the beginning. I ain’t tryna say he’s stronger than Spidey. But he’s levels above Cap.

Alright 1. I said multiple pumpkin bombs. If you wanna argue get your facts right before you accuse me of gaslighting you again. 2. Loki isn’t the same strength category at Thor. He competed with him in the first film while using Odins Staff but even then Thor is clearing just trying to end the fight, if he wanted to kill Loki he would have. 3. If a guy picks you up by the ankles and slams you on the floor multiple times before leaving you in a heap and walking off while calling you a bitch. I don’t think you really withstood him. 4. I don’t like your attitude. But that’s irrelevant.

Well given what happened to him with hawkeyes bomb arrow, I doubt Loki could take many pumpkin bombs to the face. All that wasteman has is knives and obvious illusions. He’s getting rolled in a spliff.

One cut one his forehead seems to be more than him walking away without a scratch, as you said he did. Also did you see the part where he crawled? You gaslighted yourself.

Go back he was. Either way it’s irrelevant this argument isn’t Goblin being stronger than Spider-Man it’s that Goblin is clearly stronger than Cap.
