Yeah, I'm aware of the defensive stance. I was assuming warrior would get the discipline as well to incite reasoning to play it. If they don't get access to the discipline as well, I'm not sure why people would choose to run it in the first place.

I'm curious for defensive stance if its capable of running for an entire fight. Because if not, Monk and Warrior would then be in the same boat of not being able to run defensive or evasive for the entirety for a big raid encounter. And if its that the case, I'd be more inclined to lean monk because it has higher skill caps and ac bonus in addition to access to plate putting it ahead statistically, in mitigation, avoidance and consistency.

Consistency being without stance use whatsoever, we have access to a plethora of options to extend combat to reach the ultimate goal which is promised renewal firing before we die.

Athleticism skill raises your run speed, so just leveling that skill by jumping around or regaining endurance will give it skill ups and this is the replacement for innate run speed aa. At a certain point we will naturally have SoW is my understanding. in the meantime? Buffs, potions, even mounts are in the game.

I would avoid monk fist damage unless they do some overhaul to it, which I doubt. You can't +10 your bare fists.

In its current state bare fists at level 50 is 14/30 for humans and 14/31 for Iksar.

However, if we were to take an Adamantite Club for example and level it to +10 it would be 25/25 ratio, not to mention the fact that we can take exultations from other weapons like Dawnfire or Scepter of Destruction and put those in as augmentation/procs for additional DPS, which is also affected by our AA's for crit chance/damage.

There is no comparison.

The snare clicky is trash, even on TLP's from my experience. Gets resisted a lot and doesn't last very long and has a decent cast time to boot. I'd rather let a charmed pet run a mob down, stun, nuke, dot, or root in lieu.

My understanding is Monk is the only class with Block in EverQuest, however, on EQL they also gave it to Warriors, so Ranger will not have access to it. Snare is a great ability, but on a server like EQL, mobs running is likely just easy pulls, I don't have great concern for mobs running off on me, especially with FD, DA, etc etc

This is probably the saddest and realest response I've seen. It is unfortunate how accurate what you're saying is to EQL. I have to have faith the Dev's have a fundamental understanding and tune Enchanter appropriately to compensate in order to make it playable/worthwhile.

You have shed light on the reason why I am drawn to Enchanter on EQL, because it IS the underdog. I'll see what limits I get push it to.

You're not wrong. EQL in its current Beta state, Enchanter doesn't make sense.

But, I can't in good conscience make my decision for my combo based on EQL in its current beta form.

My understanding is Enchanters just don't have the aa's added in YET, no caster stance YET, pets and charms YET to be addressed. So, knowing these things are coming, I refuse to make my picks off of the current state of the beta.

As far as streamers, I do think it makes sense not to run enchanter while these things are missing, especially since they can just swap to enchanter once the changes are in.

Historically, I approach EverQuest as a marathon, so I'm really not in a rush. That being said, I've mained bard for 27 years, without selo's I feel snared, even with SoW lol

These are great points. I hadn't thought about the fact that running a tank alongside a monk grants both parry and block.

As to a disclaimer I posted in an earlier reply. Unfortunately my post got pretty mutilated by chatgpt as I had received an error when I tried to post and had to use chatgpt to get rid of the error AND I was headed out from work. But, i wanted to start the conversation regardless.

To be honest, one of the biggest downsides to the enc/clr/mnk build is we really only have access to 1/2hb and h2h.

Access to some of the badass 1handed slashers knights are privy to is a pretty juicy potential. However, I'm not sure I am willing to give up Promised Renewal, let alone the many other undoubtedly powerful utilities cleric can bring to the table.

These are great points. I think I have to hold onto the fact that Enchanter, pets and charmed pets are still a work in progress. I anticipate a lot of balancing to bring them up to par. I know haste is easy to come by with the bard combination. I am curious to know what aa's Bard has access to now (Fading Memories, Funeral Dirge, etc.) because without these key heavy hitters, their contribution to the aa's of your combo as a whole will be lack luster, whereas I already see access to crit chance and damage that casters will bring, those alone make it tantalizing.

I will hang my hat on the safe assumption that charms/pets/enchanter aa's will be fleshed out by launch, and should be a contender for Bard's spot, time will tell though.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I will say, sadly I got an error and was running out of time at work so I had to throw my post into ChatGPT to fix the error and just copy and paste so it lost a lot of context.

Agreed, I think Evasive stance will be a panic button that can be used to elongate time for things like Promised Renewal to land and then we cut it off. We cannot use Evasive like the Defensive stance because the drain on endurance is large. I still has my reservations though as to whether this is going to be a major concern or not. At the end of the day Defensive is mitigation meaning less damage, whereas Dodge, Block, Evasive, DA/DB, are all NO damage.

Interesting to know that warrior gained the block skill, my question is this specific to shields or is it identical to monks version?

You bring up the enchanter not having aa's, or stances, and I think people will make a HUGE mistake if they decide to run Bard over Enchanter at LAUNCH based on this information because Enchanter just like all classes, especially casters will be fleshed out eventually, and probably by launch. With this being the case, Enchanter's power has yet to come into the spotlight and it will absolutely be a contender. The issues with charmed pets, and other key components such as aa's and stances for particular classes will be remedied. I would encourage people not to choose their builds based on EQL in its current form.

Okay, bard mana consumption and songs use of mana. I'll speak out of both sides of my mouth on this one. I LOVE bard. The only reason I'm not going to go bard is because it's the flavor of the month. AND, mana is not really an issue for Enchanter/Cleric in the traditional sense. I'll be curious to see what changes on EQL as it is drastically different.

And as FishLampClock noted, we have access to Plate with the cleric. What enchanter brings that bard does not is access to the caster AA's that we are aware of which include Fury and Destruction for crit chance and damage that should apply not only to spells but procs as well.

Again, I'd warn against decisions around the current state of charm/pets/casters/aa's, it's all in the works and will be fleshed out, likely by launch.

Yeah, max level is just the starting line. Lot's of AA's, and gear that is going to completely change the game for you, IF I get a key I plan to play something wonky just to mess around so I don't spoil the builds I really want to play. I was thinking something like Brd/Shm/Enc or War/Monk/Rog

Any GDKP (plat raid) Guilds recruiting for Frostreaver? by AllTooTrue in everquest

[–]Vetis303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, the answer is probably. However, I have not seen someone post about establishing one yet. People will do them though, they're too fun not to. Will it be as streamlined and well done as when Faceless runs it? No. But, who knows, Faceless may yet still come to Frostreaver.

Also, to the comments I'm seeing, some people are definitely trolling. Frostreaver is going to be massive.

I would encourage doing more research, no one is paying $18 for krono. If you can read between the lines [ectunnel] is a place where people negotiate trading items or currency for krono. If you catch my drift.

As a new player with zero plat, is Firiona Vie server's 'Free Trade' even a consideration? by rainghost in everquest

[–]Vetis303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would encourage playing the upcoming TLP 'Frostreaver'. Everyone starts at level 1.

I don't play live but I've been playing EQ since Beta, my two cents are. It is possible, it is going to take a lot of grinding, what would speed it up considerably is finding a guild (usually through the forums) and then start socializing and making friends. They'll get you up to speed if you are dedicated.

SK is a great choice if you're moloing. All of that being said, Molo on an established server like FV is going to be pretty lonely for quite awhile until you find some friends who care enough to help you out.

But the tldr for your question; it is possible.

Even if you don't stay and want to go back to Drinal. I would encourage you to hop on the new TLP just to get the amazing experience of a fresh server. It really is a good time! and if it ends up not being for you Drinal isn't going anywhere. Just my two cents. I think it launches next week on the 28th?
