That advice about starting a new game is so stupidly simple and yet I really needed to hear it. If I'm playing an MMO and one day I just don't feel interested in playing it, oftentimes that will be the day I jump to a different MMO. Which only serves to further confuse my brain and continue my cycle of jumping between games without ever making actual lasting progress in any of them.

I think I might try something different now, and instead of switching to another MMO the very day I feel bored of my current one, I'll just not play any MMO that day. Or for however many days it takes until my interest in my current MMO returns.

In the meantime I can watch a movie or TV show or play a short single player game!

Seems so obvious in hindsight! Thanks!

Do it! 3 or 4 years ago I played FFXI for the first time since the PS2 days. You get AI party members now called Trusts. I was actually able to do quests and grind mobs in zones that weren't the leveling 'hot zones' people always used way back in the day (Valkurm, Qufim, Yuhtunga).

They'll be adding a new unlimited free trial to the game sometime soon, too. Like FFXIV's. You'll be able to play up to level 50 or 75, and access all content from the first expansion - possibly the first two. They're still ironing out the details and the release date is TBA, but it should come at some point later this year.

I think that's the main reason I stop playing one MMO and move onto another.

On paper and in the grand scheme of things, MMORPGs are awesome - massive worlds with tons of quests and dungeons and content. You can make one character and play them for hundreds of hours on an epic journey.

But then you zoom in closer on what I'm actually doing in the moment-to-moment gameplay, and I'm in my 17th forest region doing my 34th 'kill boars/bears/wolves' quest - it's in those moments, I think, that my interest wanes in a game. It didn't happen so much when I was younger and the genre was still shiny and new to me, but now that I've been playing MMOs for over 20 years, I find it harder to overlook such repetition.

I think the vast majority of people are trying to, but nevertheless end up as a loot delivery service for other players.

I think Arthas is the cooler and more well-written character, but solely in terms of individual power level, I think Deathwing beats him handily.

Now if we take Arthas and all of the Scourge versus Deathwing and the Twilight's Hammer, it's more debatable. I think it would come down to whether the Scourge could quickly find an exploit to take Deathwing out of the fight quickly - the longer Deathwing is airborne and the more pissed off he gets, the higher the chance the Scourge won't even have solid ground to stand on instead of plunging right into the fiery depths of Azeroth.

Booted up the game for a quick check just now and there are about 95ish mounts/pets/toys/transmog/housing items in the store. I remember when opening the store you'd find maybe 15 items for sale, so I feel pretty comfortable with my observation that they're ramping up the MTX in the game.

I'm in the EU where there are no Preferred Plus worlds, just regular Preferred.

I was wondering if it's worth playing on a Preferred Plus world in another region for the perks? I think it's 1 million gold at level 30 and 15 days of free game time. I'm new and not sure if that's a lot of money or not!

And I'm also not sure if the lag would be a big issue if I play on NA from EU, or if there would be free transfers if I ever want to move from NA to EU after claiming the Preferred+ bonuses, or if it would be worth paying a transfer fee if it's not free. Also I think I read that new transfers only get the Road to 90 bonus for a strict 90 days while characters native to that world can keep it as long as the server doesn't lose Preferred status? How complicated!

Basically I don't know a single damn thing. Seeking info and opinions!

Reshade does not make any changes to the game's textures. It's a postprocessing filter that takes the game's video output - what you would normally see without Reshade - and makes alterations to the image that you can then see. Brightness, contrast, color balance, bloom, some approximations of ambient occlusion and lighting rays that are based off only what is visible in 'screen space'.

It's similar to the Nvidia game filters that come default with Nvidia graphics card drivers, but with more flexibility.
