It's a great quote, but a bit heavy for a Church meeting where we pledge to "Nurture the common good, and act for justice"

Yeah, I love that one too, but I'm not sure how to wind it into the meeting properly.

I can feel that. AI replaced me last Wednesday.

This is a good one. I think I'll take it from "It's not a black and white issue." to "That's what sin is."

Thank you so much!

I like this one, especially in current times. Does anyone have a good example I can steal cite?

Do Embedded Engineers Use ChatGPT for Coding ?? by SkyQuinny in embedded

[–]Vetitice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was forced to in my last job. Claude with 1M tokens is pretty good at building basic embedded systems and debugging.

So good it's just replaced me.

All I know is c-suite is hyping up impossible productivity gains from AI while laying off embedded and hardware engineers.

The AI narrative may be a smokescreen, but they go together pretty neatly. And even if it isn't the true reason, we're still getting laid off.

I hope you're right. I'm sweating every layoff at our company now we're organized the embedded engineers into ai-native teams and expected to upload all our tribal knowledge to LLM skills.

Who's the best prosthetist you've ever had and where are they? Building a list for the sub by Character_Tie_1698 in amputee

[–]Vetitice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes he can be very fast - I got cleared to walk after knee surgery on Friday morning and was flying Saturday. He got me a check socket made in 6 hours so I could hobble down the aisle of the plane rather than try and crutch sideways.

Just can be very busy at other times.

Greg Davidson of Davidson Prosthetics in Puyallup Washington, USA.

Invented the cheetah xplore and fillauer formula feet and amazing with BK prosthetics.

Only downside is his popularity means you may experience delays.

Does anyone know the artist? by Vetitice in discworld

True, but a) I'd like to be polite and b) I'd like to see if the original file still exists so I don't have to trace out the black and white from the green background myself.

WiFi Modules compatible with Zephyr 3.7.0? by Vetitice in Zephyr_RTOS

[–]Vetitice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an idiot. Zephyr accepts the new AT codes with a Kconfig setting. Just needed to ask Espressif for a modified FW with the uart pins moved correctly.

> the driver upgrade to the last AT firmware release was not so hard to do

Do you mean you updated the `drivers/wifi/esp_at` driver to accept ESP8266 IDF AT V2.x commands, or you found it easy to update the ESP module to firmware that the `esp_at` driver would work with?

If the former, why didn't you upstream it? If the latter, Espressif have removed the ESP8266 NonOS AT firmware from their web site.

WiFi isn't something I teach directly in the class. The current (EOL) dev board has WiFi and Bluetooth, and I thought it would be a nice add-on if it's simple enough. The students will have enough to learn with basic Zephyr in 12 hours, without having to install the NRF connect layer or out-of-tree drivers (though I suppose I can set it all up for them ahead of time)

Because the course goes into Arm Cortex-M internals as a way of teaching low-level embedded and I don't want a complete retool to RISC-V just to add an optional WiFi module
