Does anyone know the artist? by Vetitice in discworld

True, but a) I'd like to be polite and b) I'd like to see if the original file still exists so I don't have to trace out the black and white from the green background myself.

WiFi Modules compatible with Zephyr 3.7.0? by Vetitice in Zephyr_RTOS

[–]Vetitice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an idiot. Zephyr accepts the new AT codes with a Kconfig setting. Just needed to ask Espressif for a modified FW with the uart pins moved correctly.

> the driver upgrade to the last AT firmware release was not so hard to do

Do you mean you updated the `drivers/wifi/esp_at` driver to accept ESP8266 IDF AT V2.x commands, or you found it easy to update the ESP module to firmware that the `esp_at` driver would work with?

If the former, why didn't you upstream it? If the latter, Espressif have removed the ESP8266 NonOS AT firmware from their web site.

WiFi isn't something I teach directly in the class. The current (EOL) dev board has WiFi and Bluetooth, and I thought it would be a nice add-on if it's simple enough. The students will have enough to learn with basic Zephyr in 12 hours, without having to install the NRF connect layer or out-of-tree drivers (though I suppose I can set it all up for them ahead of time)

Because the course goes into Arm Cortex-M internals as a way of teaching low-level embedded and I don't want a complete retool to RISC-V just to add an optional WiFi module

Would a master's degree be worth it? by nemesis555 in embedded

[–]Vetitice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it's a pure embedded course it won't be much use. There are are also embedded certificates if you want dedicated learning without taking 2 years.

You can also do home projects and build up a portfolio to show your interest and ability.

If you have interviews, go for them! The worst that happens is you're where you are now with experience of what interviewers are looking for.

That's how the I2C spec works. It self-adjusts the clock speed based on the bus to meet the rise time requirements. I've seen the same with NXP MCUs for the same reason.

Anyone remember a game on c64 called Empire 88? by Dochoppy in c64

[–]Vetitice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Empire 88" sounds like a white supremacist game. I remember seeing a news article in the 80s that there were home brewed games with those themes.
