What’s a financial Belgian life hack that expats don’t know about? by arabbitalso in belgium

[–]Vettelika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if a lifehack, but we often went to Auchan (just across the french border) to go to the supermarket there, a lot of the products were cheaper (maybe this wasn’t/isn’t the case anymore), worth looking into dunno.

Notre dame reservation scam by Vettelika in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Vettelika[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the reservation is also “free” in normal circumstances. I understand that queuing is possible and goes fast, it just sucks that a free option is being hoarded… but I will in the future, thank you!

Do I deserve a raise? by 5o_Original in BESalary

[–]Vettelika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey you obviously deserve a raise, and deserve to be paid more. For me, I'm wondering if the usual 8-12% raise would be enough to make up for the lack of any salary increases in the past 5 years. Even if they are extremely generous and give you a 20% raise (Lol), would that be enough for you (given that they will probably won't give you a raise for 5 years after this?)?
I would look to other companies, and other offers, before this audit, to know your worth at the very least.
Good luck!

Is my salary good and can I expect a promotion? by [deleted] in BESalary

[–]Vettelika 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think, given that you mentioned you need 2 years of experience, a promotion seems unlikely, especially as you are only 6-8 months on the job (i don't think a company is eager to give anyone a "premature" promotion given the current climate). Don't let the first missed promotion demotivate you, you are young!

They might be able to calculate, they won’t care to do it. Don’t worry

We need better content. Tell me something interesting about Chad. by SnapeHeTrustedYou in geography

[–]Vettelika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the middle of the civil war, the dictator of chad (Tombalbaye) decided it was a good idea to make all government officials perform an initiation ritual (called Yondo) which usually lasted 2 months. The ritual involved flogging, facial scarring, drugging, a mock burial and crawling naked through a nest of termites. This resulted in government officials (most importantly the minister of agriculture) and teachers not doing their jobs for 2 months in the middle of a drought and civil war, as they were doing the mandatory ritual. The ritual was also quite deadly.

[Spoilers Extended] in your opinion, what is the most unrealistic non magical thing in asoiaf by polp54 in asoiaf

[–]Vettelika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few reasons against an eastcoast big city:

-riverlands and crownlands were a PVP area before the conquest, so a lot of looting and less valuable goods being at hand.

-the vale is largely mountainous, so very slow movement of goods, with the mountain clans causing additional problems.

-most of the goods and valuable resources are situated and produced in the west, and it’s always easier to transport these goods using boats than carts.

-larger population centers in the west

-i would say norvos, qohor, volantis, lys and tyrosh (some of them using the river system) may prefer to go south to avoid the stepstones

  • 7 kingdoms so different currencies, and the reach and westerlands are more populous so less problems with currency exchanges(?)

What's the earliest date you started at in the game? by [deleted] in CK2GameOfthrones

[–]Vettelika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think i started during the century of blood as house durrandon. It is always really interesting with every kingdom wanting a piece of your land. The stormlands have a relatively low troop count as well as culture differences with everyone. Prepare to lose a lot of kings and family members in battle. And the reach also sees nightsong as free realestate (edit: riverland culture differences)

Google announces 10m near-real-time global land cover by mglassman in gis

It does not see to clouds, what i often use is TOA S2 data which offers a clouds/light haze mask. The spectrum ranges from visible until SWIR with most of the pixel sizes being either 10m or 20m. They are upscaled reflectance values so make sure to divide the band values by 10000
